The Environmental Program Intern will report to the Environmental Program Manager and will be primarily responsible for completing work delegated by the Environmental Program Manager to assist with the day-to-day operations of the Tribal Environmental Department, and the fulfillment of grants and other environmental tasks.
DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES
- Assists with the implementation of environmental program work plans/activities and compliance with federal grant requirements.
- Keeps abreast of current trends and information in the environmental field.
- Assists with writing, preparing, and reviewing environmental documents.
- Responsible for general office duties including filing documents, completing, and submitting payment requests, travel authorizations, travel expense reports, and agenda requests.
- Assists other environmental programs with work in the office and in the field.
- Attends meetings as required.
- Helps prepare reports for Tribal leadership and Tribal Council
- Other duties as assigned.
- A successful candidate will possess the following:
- Experience with environmental projects preferred.
- Have great communication skills – verbal, written, electronic, and auditory.
- Excellent attention to detail.
- Strong interpersonal, organizational, and relationship-building skills with the ability to work as part of a team.
- Must possess basic computer skills including Microsoft Office, specifically Excel, Word, Outlook, and Teams. Understanding of Google Workspace preferred.
- Understanding of environmental program activities preferred.
- Submission to, and successful passage of, drug-testing and background check requirements.
- Must be able to work outdoors in the field and wetlands, sometimes for several hours in various weather conditions.
- Must be enrolled in an accredited college or university as an undergraduate or graduate student.
- Must be pursuing a degree in geography, environmental science, environmental policy, wildlife conservation, or related field.
- Must submit unofficial transcripts from undergraduate and/or graduate university.
- Must supply a resume, cover letter, and two letters of reference, one of which must be from a professor.
