Job Summary: The Head Coach is responsible to oversee the assigned sports program, which includes its overall level of excellence, its representation within the community, the leadership of the coaching staff, and the physical and spiritual development of players.  

Essential duties include the following. Other duties may be assigned:

  1. Responsible for setting the overall volleyball program vision and for developing the theme for each season.
  2. Coaching Oversight:
  3. Responsible for overall coaching strategy, coordination, and daily coaching on the court.
  4. With the Athletic Director, responsible for coach recruitment, hiring, and development.
  5. Responsible for player discipleship and leadership development.
  6. Manage assistant coach(es).
  7. Continues to pursue growth in skills as a position coach by learning from other coaching staff and attending coaching clinics.
  8. Communication oversight:
  9. Communicate regularly with the Athletic Director and Athletic department.
  10. Oversee communication to parents.
  11. Oversee communication to players.
  12. Oversee communication to parent volunteers.
  13. Social Media:
  14. Coordinates with Sports Information Director to keep social media and volleyball page of the website current.
  15. Actively involved in prospective player development and communication.
  16. Represents Wheaton Academy within in the conference and IHSA. Ensures that all IHSA requirements are met.
  17. Manage all aspects of program operations.
  18. Manage program finances.
  19. Athletic Trainer coordination.
  20. Manage team excursions.
  21. Manage community and school service activities.
  22. Manage college recruiting.
  23. Manage summer camp operations.
  24. Uses requisite technology independently to perform coaching instructional and program operational duties.

Qualifications: The Head Coach must be a spiritually sensitive individual who understands the mission of Wheaton Academy and is committed to help see it become a reality in the lives of our students by manifesting, by precept and example, the highest Christian virtue and personal decorum, serving as a Christian role model (I Timothy 4:12) both in and out of school (Luke 6:40), and as an example to parents and fellow employees in judgment, dignity, respect, and Christian living. This individual must maintain active participation in a protestant evangelical church.  

The ideal candidate has prior collegiate playing experience and prior coaching experience. This individual has proven leadership experience in directing others and a program toward the completion of a vision in coaching or other professional contexts.

Qualifications: The Head Coach accepts without verbal or mental reservations the Educational Philosophy and Mission of Wheaton Academy as outlined in the StateĀ­ment of Faith and is committed to upholding them. The Assistant Coach shall follow a Christian lifestyle and shall maintain a Christian church affiliation whose fundamental beliefs are in alignment with the Statement of Faith of this school. The coach affirms that, as part of the qualifications for this position, he/she is a "born again" Christian who knows the Lord Jesus Christ as Savior.
