Nichols Contracting, Inc. (NCI) is a family-owned and operated Construction and Contracting business headquartered in Columbia, MD with offices in Venice, Royal Palm Beach, and Orange City, FL with a team of 150 employees. NCI is a full-service general contractor focused on providing premier services in all aspects of the construction process, from concept to completion. We manage a broad range of commercial construction projects, including new construction, tenant fit outs, and renovations. NCI services a diverse group of markets including federal, state, and local governments, as well as a variety of corporate and special industry organizations that require complex life safety and critical infrastructure needs.


The Safety Director will develop and execute safety plans to ensure a safe work environment in both the office and field. This position will be responsible for enforcing all safety codes and policies to ensure that we are in compliance with all applicable regulations and standards, including OSHA. Duties to include but not limited to: 


  **$5,000 Sign-On Bonus**  
Requirements
  • Oversee and participate in the safety audit process
  • Develop job specific safety plans and work with management to implement solutions to all safety-related issues
  • Manage the corporate safety policies and emergency procedures
  • Advise management when subcontractors and employees do not follow safety standards and take immediate corrective action
  • Responsible to lead all Quarterly Safety Meetings and attend Foreman Meetings
  • Prepare reports and maintain all safety-related paperwork in a timely manner
  • Oversee all accidents and injuries, maintain accurate records, and report them to management
  • Perform other duties as assigned

Desired Qualifications/Skills:  

  • High school diploma or GED required
  • Bachelor’s degree in Occupational Safety, Engineering, or related discipline preferred
  • Minimum of 5 years commercial, government, or industrial project management experience, including at least 4 years of management-level safety professional experience
  • Current OSHA 30 and First Aid/CPR certification
  • OSHA 500 preferred
  • USACE EM385-1-1 Safety Health Standards
  • Excellent written and oral communication skills
  • Ability to work well under pressure and consistently meet critical deadlines
  • Detail Oriented with effective organizational, time management and presentation skills
  • Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, and Outlook) experience is required
