JOB SUMMARY 

     

The Program Manager, Strategic Initiatives will be part of the   ADG Program Management Office in a director-level role, reporting to the Sr.   Director, PMO and will be responsible for ensuring the successful launch through   implementation, as well as achievement of related financial and operational objectives   for strategic, cross-functional initiatives. The ability to both personally develop as well as guide others to   develop detailed project/workstream plans, coordinate multiple initiatives   and workstreams simultaneously, manage cross-functional interdependencies, identify   and resolve potential issues and risks, and objectively assess and report   project/workstream status are all critical skill sets required. The scope of   the role includes working with senior leadership both at the DSC (Division   Support Center) and at the divisions, to drive the development of the   approach and governance process; the execution; and the tracking of strategic   initiatives. 


This role requires very strong collaboration and communication skills, a broad   understanding of ADG divisions’ operations across multiple channels and functions, and good working relationships at both the senior leadership and individual   contributor levels.


ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES include the following. Other duties may be assigned.

  • Define the scope and goals of each initiative tightly aligned with the financial business case and overall ADG strategy.
  • Clearly articulate the project value being delivered across the organization.
  • Develop governance process and communication plans to keep all stakeholders informed timely.
  • Communicate goals and objectives to all stakeholders across all levels in the organization, including senior   executives and steering committee members.
  • Assist with the development of future state operating models by guiding and facilitating the efforts of relevant   stakeholders.
  • Plan and conduct the initiative kickoff meeting so that team members understand expectations and their roles and   responsibilities throughout the lifecycle of the project.
  • Assist project managers in creating detailed project charters and project plans.
  • Recognize and mitigate risks early, reducing bottlenecks that hold up progress.
  • Monitor status and quickly resolve issues throughout project execution.
  • Escalate issues requiring senior-level input so they are resolved quickly and effectively.
  • Manage the interdependencies between functions so activities are prioritized and sequenced correctly.
  • Track initiative implementation and develop and track KPIs as appropriate.
  • Evaluate the risks associated with changes and mitigate them to the most reasonable extent possible.
  • Capture lessons learned and develop a playbook incorporating best practices for future strategic initiative   implementations.


SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES This position carries out supervisory responsibilities in accordance with company guidelines, policies and procedures, and applicable laws.  Supervisory responsibilities include interviewing, hiring, and training employees; planning, assigning, and directing work; appraising performance; rewarding and disciplining employees; addressing complaints and resolving problems.

Required Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree in business administration or a related field. MBA preferred.
  • 10+ years of experience in project management or large-scale business transformation programs.
  • Previous leadership/project management experience required.
  • Strong written and verbal communication and executive presentation skills
  • Proven track record of delivering results through influencing cross-functionally in highly matrixed program structures.
  • Demonstrated ability to develop overall strategic direction while also maintaining detailed oversight of program execution.
  • Good understanding of financial statements and ability to develop simple financial models in Excel.
  • Strong PowerPoint skills coupled with good judgement in developing and articulating messaging relevant to the target audience.
  • Comfortable operating in ambiguous situations in a quickly evolving environment and developing new processes and structures where none previously existed.
  • Proven ability to “connect-the-dots” with a strong bent toward problem-solving and delivering to measurable results.
