Facility & Grounds Technician ($30,160 - $37,500)

Job Summary: Safety sensitive position with purpose of maintaining and repairing Institute facilities and grounds. Specifically, maintaining the aesthetic appeal of our campus outdoor spaces as well as contributing to the visual appeal of our facilities. 

This is a full time benefited position and will be posted until filled.

Position starts at $14.50 per hour

Essential Responsibilities:

  • Technical knowledge in general building maintenance.
  • Assist with general maintenance of all Institute facilities 
  • Maintain all Institute grounds (mowing, weed eating, leaf removal, tree removal, tree trimming, tree/limb cleanup)
  • Maintenance of outdoor guest areas (fire pits, fireplaces)
  • Assist with maintenance of lawn equipment
  • Cut, split and haul wood
  • Assist with Institute road and sidewalk maintenance during inclement weather (salt/sand)
  • Help maintain irrigation and watering systems to ensure proper watering. 
  • Other duties as assigned

Not required, but beneficial:

  • Experience with painting, surface preparation
  • Experience with any of the following: electrical, plumbing, HVAC

  • Closely follow instructions to ensure high degree of safety for self and others
  • Know high risk areas (under/above ground utility lines, fiber optics, etc.) and associated safety rules, regulations, etc.
  • Safely operate tools of the trade
  • Know and apply applicable safety standards, guidelines, training, etc.
  • Excellent team-minded attitude
  • Reliable transportation
  • Flexible work schedule

Physical Factors (environment): Stand for extended periods of time (up to 8 hours per day)

  • Lift up to 50lbs. 
  • Bend, kneel, stoop, push, pull, reach, and climb ladder 
  • Loud noises associated with job duties 
  • Smells and odors related to job duties
  • Exposure to outdoors, water, chemicals, fumes, smoke, grease, oil, dust, shavings, etc.

Preferred/Required Education: High School Diploma/GED, Trade or Technical school preferred

Required Experience: 5+ years
