We are looking for experienced Sandblast Technicians for our locomotive shop. Will train the right candidate but experience is preferred in either automotive or heavy-duty industrial work.

Job Duties:

· Organizes and plans the use of blasting equipment and materials for various projects.

· Ensures that the blasting equipment is properly maintained and in a ready state of operation.

· Sandblast, prep and sand locomotive components, chassis, and equipment for painting.

· Prepare surfaces for sandblasting by cleaning and masking if needed.  

· Ensure safety measures are followed at all times.

· Examines and measures finished surfaces to ensure conformance to specifications.  

· Maintains a clean and organized work area to facilitate manufacturing functions.

· Willingness to cross-train and perform the work of other job tasks in addition to the primary assigned position.

• While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to stand; use hands and fingers, hand to, or feel; reach with hands and arms; climb or balance; stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl and talk or hear.
• The employee is frequently required to walk.
• The employee must regularly lift and /or move up to 70 pounds.
• Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception and ability to adjust focus.
• While performing the duties of this job, the employee is exposed to fumes and may at times be required to wear a respirator.
• The employee will be exposed to outdoor weather conditions.
• The noise level in the work environment is one that is typically associated with a manufacturing facility.

Job Requirements:

o High School Diploma or GED

o Valid Driver's License*

o Previous sandblasting experience or training

o Strong attention to detail and ability to work independently.

o Knowledge of safety protocols and procedures

o Physical ability to lift heavy objects (up to 70lbs.) and stand for extended periods of time.

o Excellent communication and teamwork 

o Ability to operate a forklift or obtain a forklift license. *

o Familiarity with power tools.
