Position Summary:

The Registrar & Educational Technology Specialist is a full-time, 12-month position within the Technology & Library Services Department, reporting to the Director of Technology & Library Services. This individual is responsible for coordinating and executing all tasks related to student records and school scheduling for each school division as well as possible technology instruction. Primary tasks are to execute the master schedule and facilitate course requests, course add/drop periods, and configuration of the course and schedule management system, as well as additional work to support Educational Technology and IT needs. This position is an Early Childhood through Grade Twelve role and will interact with students, parents, faculty, staff, alumni, and other constituents.


Duties and responsibilities include:


Registrar & Scheduler:

  • Facilitate the report card and transcript process
  • Assist with grading- and records-related activities
  • Partner with IT and EdTech teams to support teachers using the grading portion of the school’s data-based software; document and resolve trouble tickets for unresolved issues
  • Enter and maintain constituent, course, and test data
  • Create and regularly revise user and technical documentation and procedures
  • Provide information on demographics and statistics as required by state, federal, and accreditation organizations
  • Facilitate the online back to school forms process and coordinate information dissemination among all divisions
  • Prepare a master schedule and class schedules each term for teachers and students in Early Childhood through Grade Twelve
  • Communicate and/or record configuration changes to school facilities as they relate to scheduling needs
  • Produce all forms and reporting required to complete scheduling process
  • Facilitate the online course request process
  • Analyze and develop course balance recommendations
  • Work with division directors, department chairs, and deans to resolve student schedule conflicts
  • Develop and execute communication plans for scheduling
  • Handle course add/drop requests

Educational Technology:

  • Provide technology-centered curricular support for teachers school-wide
  • Provide support for student-centered technology initiatives
  • Support teacher training and issues around grading
  • Possible teaching in educational technology as needed
  • Create engaging, successful training sessions for teachers and students of varying skill levels
  • Create training documentation on using and accessing Laurel-specific systems
  • Research and bring to the classroom suggestions for innovative technologies, projects, and other resources
Requirements
  • Bachelor’s Degree in a technical discipline or four years of related experience in a school or non-profit environment
  • Willingness to be trained on Blackbaud’s On system or other student information systems
  • Proficiency with Google Workspace and Microsoft Office
  • Ability to maintain data integrity for student records
  • Interest in creating greater efficiencies in school and office systems
  • A desire for furthering the school's Strategic Roadmap Initiative on Sustainability through a continued reduction in paper

Preferred Knowledge and Skills

  • Previous experience as a school registrar and scheduler
  • Previous experience as an educational technology teacher
  • Experience with Blackbaud systems; specifically the On System preferred
  • Experience with scheduling in independent school or higher education environment is preferred
  • Attention to detail and accuracy of data
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills
  • Proficiency with Google Workspace and Microsoft Office
  • Strong organizational and time management skills
  • Ability to communicate efficiently and effectively in both written and spoken English
  • Work in a fast-paced, stressful environment dealing with a wide variety of challenges, deadlines, and a varied and diverse array of contacts
  • Ability to prioritize work
  • Ability to work independently and in a team environment
  • Ability to lift equipment and materials weighing up to 25 pounds
  • Twist, turn, and reach in completing a variety of job duties
  • Sit for long periods of time using computer/technology
  • Work in wide variety of environments as found in all areas of the school
