CLASSIFICATION:  Seasonal - Full Time

STATUS:   Non-Exempt

REPORTS TO:   Director of Production and Operations

SUPERVISES:  N/A

LOCATION:   Williamstown, MA

COMPENSATION: $22 Per Hour 

HIRING TIMELINE: Applications to be accepted until filled with a priority application deadline of 3/18/2024. Application review and interviews to be conducted starting 3/18/2024 with an anticipated start date of 06/13/24 and end date of 8/17/24.

Job Summary:

The Williamstown Theatre Festival is seeking skilled individuals to join our team as Production Staff for the 2024 season. As a member of the Production Staff, you will be joining a team of individuals for a period of 10 weeks that will staff various crew positions given the various load in, rehearsal, and performance needs of each production. Positions will be tailored to the candidate’s specific desired area of interest (e.g., props, lighting, costumes, etc.) but this position will also work in many production areas throughout the summer. 

Execution:

  • Provide traditional production labor as a stage crew member. This will include the creation, sourcing, and installation of lighting, sound, scenic, props, costumes, and other production elements as needed.
  • Complete individual production assignments that will be tailored to the person’s areas of strength, knowledge, and any desired opportunities for growth. 
  • Work within the individual production departments to ensure that their elements of the shows are executed smoothly and to the highest standard achievable. 
  • Assist in the load-in and load-out of campus spaces, including offices and workspaces, equipment counting, and off-season storage.
  • Help to create and maintain a positive and professional organizational culture within the festival, through your own actions and contributions as well as by helping to identify and address any issues that may arise or currently exist.
  • Adhere to safety protocols and guidelines to ensure a secure working environment for yourself and the entire production team.

Team Collaboration:

  • Collaborate with the Production Manager to ensure a smooth execution of production needs of the festival throughout the summer.  
  • Contribute to creative problem-solving and troubleshooting during the summer, addressing challenges related to production needs of each department. 
  • Work closely with production departments supervisors and various staff to ensure a seamless and integrated planning of operations. 
  • Partake in season debrief meetings and create documentation of notes that will better serve the position and production departments next summer.

QUALIFICATIONS

  • Advanced knowledge of theatrical production, either in a specific discipline or mixed experiences, with the ability to exercise discretion and work independently to execute various daily needs of the productions. 
  • Demonstrated ability to work collaboratively as part of a team and contribute to a positive organizational culture.
  • Strong attention to detail and ability to follow instructions.
  • Willingness to work flexible schedules as needed.
  • Physical ability to lift and carry equipment, climb ladders, and perform other physically demanding tasks.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office and Google Workspace. 
Salary Description
$22/hour
