COMPENSATION: $20 Per Hour  

HIRING TIMELINE: Applications to be accepted until filled with a priority application deadline of 3/18/2024. Application review and interviews to be conducted starting 3/18/2024 with an anticipated start date of 06/13/24 and end date of 8/17/24.


The Williamstown Theatre Festival is seeking a motivated and organized individual to join our team as an Assistant Production Manager for the 2024 Season. Working closely with the Production Manager, the Assistant Production Manager will play a crucial role in supporting the rehearsal and performance process for the assigned production. This position requires an attention to detail and a proactive approach to management.


Production Management Execution:

  • Assist the Production Manager with daily production needs such as procuring production items, reconciliation of expenses, and document creation. 
  • Provide on-site support in the theaters during load-in, technical rehearsals, and performance run.  
  • Create, distribute, and maintain production documents, such as budgets, fire books, schedules, and space calendars.
  • Take notes during meetings and technical rehearsals as directed.
  • Assist with the load-in and load-out of campus spaces including offices and workspaces, counting of equipment, and storage of items for off-season. 
  • Adhere to safety protocols and guidelines to ensure a secure working environment for yourself and the entire production team.

Team Collaboration:

  • Collaborate with the production manager to ensure a smooth management of elements for multiple productions. 
  • Contribute to creative problem-solving and troubleshooting during the production process, addressing challenges related to performance of the production.
  • Work closely with production departments supervisors and various staff to ensure a seamless and integrated production process.
  • Partake in season debrief meetings and create documentation of notes that will better serve the position and production management department next summer.

  • The Williamstown Theatre Festival does not require a specific number of years of experience or have a minimum for educational credentials.
  • Previous professional experience or relevant internships in theatrical production or stage management is preferred.
  • Strong organizational and multitasking skills.
  • Excellent communication and collaboration skills.
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced and dynamic production environment.
  • Eagerness to learn and a proactive approach to tasks.
  • An essential function of this job is in-person work in Williamstown, MA.
