Graduate Assistant Coach for Baseball

Greenville University is searching for a dynamic graduate assistant (GA) for the 2018-2019 season of our Baseball program in Athletics.  The GA will be responsible for assisting in all aspects of the Baseball program as well as secondary responsibilities assigned by the Athletics Director.  A strong faith base and commitment to the mission of Greenville University are essential.




  • Develop and maintain a database filing system for prospective student athletes
  • Send appropriate mailings to the prospective student athletes
  • Make nightly recruiting calls to prospective student athletes
  • Coordinate the efforts of current student athletes to assist with calling prospective student athletes
  • Coordinate campus visits with the admissions office and the head coach
  • Scout high schools and junior colleges for prospective student athletes
  • Make calls to high school and junior college coaches to identify prospective student athletes
  • Attend and evaluate various recruiting showcases 
  • Attend various baseball tournaments for the purpose of evaluating and recruiting


  • Assist with the administration o f study tables for the current student athletes
  • Communicate with professors to discuss the progress of current student athletes
  • Arrange academic assistance for current student athletes when necessary


  • Serve as a role model in everyday lifestyle and the position of assistant coach.  Abide by the standards of the lifestyle statement
  • Regularly eat with student athletes in the dining commons and at the student union
  • Conduct a voluntary study of a book about Christian living, i.e. Wild At Heart
  • Build relationships with the current student athletes outside of the sport of baseball


  • Assist with the organization of practices
  • Assist with the planning and administration of practices
  • Meet with current players outside of practice sessions to work on specific areas of their game (i.e. hitting, pitching, fielding) for extra/early work during the appropriate times of the year
  • Responsible for a specific group of position players and their defensive preparation
  • Responsible for instructing hitters/pitchers and preparing them for the season
  • Organize and maintain equipment (i.e. uniforms, bats, baseballs, etc.)
  • Assist in the various field maintenance responsibilities
  • Drive a vehicle full of student athletes to and from various ballgames
  • Arrange transportation to and from ballgames for the season
  • Organize regular student volunteers for Concessions Stand
  • Organize regular student volunteer for Gym Setup


  • Assists with the promotion, organization and instruction of the winter baseball camps
  • Compensation for the camps will be determined by the head coach
