JOB SUMMARY 

ADG is looking for a Director of Network Optimization & Operational Excellence to support our growing organization. The successful candidate needs to be an outside of the box thinker who is self-motivated, fiscally responsible, roll-up-your-sleeves attitude and takes initiative to deliver projects safely and successfully. This Director will need to be able to manage multiple multi-functional projects, while exercising strong leadership skills to drive change through business leaders and operations teams. Reporting into the Vice President Distribution Operations, the Director of Network Optimization & Operational Excellence will have a varied role that consists of project management, network design, warehouse solutioning and continuous improvement functions, as well as supporting the day-to-day operations and business leaders.


ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES include the following. Other duties may be assigned.

  • Partner with VP Distribution Operations on Network Optimization strategy, process to mitigate cost and maximize service, lead on-going review of facility needs/selection e.g., Warehouse, Fabrication, Greenfield, Consolidation etc.
  • Ensure facilities are right sized, laid out, and outfitted with needed furnishings, equipment, racking, flow, and digital solutions to meet operational needs, optimize productivity, and meet safety standards.
  • Negotiate, manage 3rd party vendors and/or lease agreements partnering with Director of Real Estate
  • Create a culture of continuous improvement across Distribution Operations to maximize efficiency and productivity.
  • Create strategic plans for improving operational efficiency and effectiveness.
  • Deliver operational efficiencies relating to Safety, Operations, Quality, Service, through warehouse design and digital solutions (technology / automation), and overall continuous improvements.
  • Develop metrics to measure operational excellence across the business.
  • Design and oversee implementation and adoption of new processes and procedures.
  • Facilitate cross-functional collaboration to ensure that the sum of the functional business plans yields operational excellence overall and meets the projects expectations. 
  • Structure and lead teams through course correction and development of applicable training materials to standardize process and procedures.
  • Management of specific projects, direct change management, organizational re-design, and development.
  • Produce regular reporting to key internal stakeholders.
  • Lead and support key projects within support center functions e.g., Safety, Real Estate, Verticals, HR, IT, Transportation and Logistics, Purchasing and Inventory Management
  • Ensure project, process, procedure sustainability.
Requirements

EDUCATION, EXPERIENCE & QUALIFICATIONS To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily.  The requirements listed below are representative of the knowledge, skill and/or ability required.  Reasonable accommodations may be made to enable individuals with disabilities to perform the essential functions.

  • Bachelor’s degree required, preferably in Supply Chain, Business, Engineering, Industrial Distribution, or related field.
  • 6-10 Years experience in private and/or public companies, ideally in the building products and distribution space at companies with over $1 billion in revenue. 
  • Proven success in root-cause analysis, continuous improvement, change management, and distribution network strategy / real estate, facility buildout and consolidation, warehouse operations.
  • Detailed working knowledge of and experience implementing Material Handling Equipment (MHE), Warehouse layout, Storage techniques/applications, Slotting, Warehouse Management Systems (WMS), and a variety of Warehouse productivity technologies (e.g., Voice Pick, RFID). 
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills.
  • Ability to meet deadlines and targets.
  • Excellent Project Management skills, able to identify and marshal resources to accomplish goals, PMP certification preferred.
  • Flexible and adaptive approach to change.
  • Experience in diverse functional projects (e.g., IT, HR, Finance etc.)
  • Experience creating SOP’s and training materials.
  • Ability to travel as necessary to meet demands / requirements.
  • May be responsible for direct supervision of various levels.
