REPORTS TO:   Marketing & Communications Coordinator

SUPERVISES:  N/A

LOCATION:   On-site in Williamstown, MA

COMPENSATION: $18.00/hr

HIRING TIMELINE: Applications to be accepted until position is filled with a priority application 

deadline of March 20. Application review and interviews to be conducted starting March 25, with an anticipated start date of June 5 and end date of August 17. 


Job Summary

The Williamstown Theatre Festival is seeking a highly organized individual with exceptional time management skills to join our Marketing & Communications team as a seasonal Marketing Assistant.

The Marketing Assistant will work closely with the Marketing & Communications Coordinator and team to implement a communications strategy that aligns with the Festival's brand and messaging. The Marketing Assistant will also assist with front-facing duties, such as welcoming press and other VIPs to the Festival.

The ideal candidate will have strong writing and communication skills, as well as a passion for theater and marketing. Experience with photography, graphic design, and video editing is a plus. This is a seasonal position and will require a flexible schedule, including evening and weekend work during the Festival season.


Primary Responsibilities and Expectations

The Marketing Assistant reports to the year-round Marketing & Communications Coordinator. Responsibilities include, but are not limited to:

  • Assisting the Marketing & Communications Coordinator in managing operations and daily administrative duties, including handling phone calls, responding to emails, attending to individual department requests, calendar management, etc.
  • Assisting in the construction of newsletters and other communications via email.
  • Assisting in organizing and maintaining graphic design, photo/video capture and production, press, social media, and advertising schedules.
  • Scheduling and executing runs to distribute marketing materials (posters, brochures, rack cards, etc).
  • Contributing ideas and participating in the creation of dynamic marketing campaigns for Festival performances and events.
  • Assisting in the creation/production of marketing graphics, photos, and video content. 
  • Assisting in Williamstown Theatre Festival website content and graphic assets updates.
  • Organizing, managing, and archiving marketing project folders in Google Drive.
  • Observing and participating in other operations of the Marketing & Communications department
  • Assisting the Marketing & Communications Coordinator and seasonal Social Media Assistant with the construction and distribution of social media across platforms.

  • Help with archival photo and video
  • Adhering to all Festival safety protocols
  • Other duties as assigned
  • An essential function of this job is in-person work in Williamstown, MA.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Excellent writing and communication skills
  • Familiarity with email design software, such as MailChimp 
  • Familiarity with basic web design software, such as WordPress 
  • Proficiency across all of Google Suite 
  • Proficiency in basic design software such as Adobe Suite 
  • Strong interpersonal skills 
  • Attention to detail and ability to multitask
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced, team-oriented environment
  • Desire to learn more about how non-profit Marketing and Communications departments function, produce, and share content.
Salary Description
