  • Practical application of group counseling 
  • Steady integration into the therapeutic process beginning with observation and becoming more interactive
  • Practicing debriefing, one of the key clinical skills necessary to thrive in this field
  • Processing and dispelling previously held assumptions and beliefs about people impacted by addiction
  • Balancing the format of a pre-planned topic with meeting the needs of the patients at that time, in that moment
  • In real-time, recognizing the differences between a psychoeducation lecture style and an interactive group therapy session
  • Pursuing an appropriate degree at a two or four year college or university. OR
  • Bachelors or Masters Degree in an appropriate discipline
