Visitation Monitor

Schedule: Shift Worker - less than 20 hours/week as needed

$17/hour


GENERAL STATEMENT OF DUTIES: Provide supervision to parents who have recently lost custody of their children and are in need of supervised visits in a safe setting.


ESSENTIAL RESPONSIBILITIES:

1. Supervised Visitation Monitors are responsible for creating a safe environment to conduct scheduled visitations and exchanges.

2. Provide supervision of families during the visits and exchanges by being physically present in the visitation areas.

3. Document factual observations during the complete detailed call cards, case notes and visitation summaries.

4. Assist in scheduling and rescheduling visits and exchanges.

5. Assure ongoing contact with families utilizing services.

6. Relay messages that relate to the services of Place of Peace from one parent to the other.

7. Effectively communicate with all participants, staff members, attorneys, case workers, Guardian Ad Litem’s and court personnel.

8. Answer phones and return phone calls to all parties in a timely manner.

9. Facilitate resolving client concerns in a timely manner.

10. Enforce program and agency policies and procedures.

11. Maintain client confidentiality and client files.

12. Attend staff meetings, agency trainings and other required trainings as requested by the Program Coordinator, Program Manager or Program Director.

13. Intervene during the visits or exchanges if a parent’s behavior becomes unsafe for the child(ren).

14. Keep the center clean and orderly. This includes doing daily chores and bleaching and disinfecting toys frequently.

15. Prepare the visitation rooms prior to families arriving at the center.

16. Maintain professionalism by speaking, dressing and behaving in a way that is appropriate when dealing with parents and children.

17. Report all cases of suspected cases of child abuse or neglect to Program Coordinator and follow child abuse reporting policy as directed by the Program Manager.

18. Responsible for redirecting visiting parents when they violate program policy, guidelines or court orders.

19. Works cooperatively with other staff members and volunteers to ensure conscientious, competent and trauma informed service delivery to shelter residents.

20. Certification in First Aid and CPR is required and may be provided by Safer Futures.

21. Complies with agency policies and procedures, COA regulations, federal and state requirements, and educational/certification/registry requirements.

22. Other duties as assigned.

Requirements

QUALIFICATIONS:

1. Strong communication and writing skills.

2. Understanding of child development and recognition of child abuse.

3. Works well as a team member.

4. Must be able to meet agency requirements for criminal back ground check (Ohio Bureau of Criminal Identification & Investigation).


MINIMUM EDUCATIONAL/LICENSURE REQUIREMENTS: Related job experience or working toward

a degree in education, social services, psychology or related field.


MINIMUM EXPERIENCE REQUIREMENTS: Awareness and understanding of domestic violence and trauma.
