Position Summary:
We are looking for an experienced resistance Spot Welder to join our team in a high-volume manufacturing environment. The Spot Welder is responsible for assembling pieces of metal together or repairing damage to metal components using handheld angle grinders. Duties include reviewing blueprints, measuring using tape measure as well as dial calipers and micrometer. The Spot Welder will also be responsible for operating and maintaining equipment and all components related to spot welding operation such as weld tips replacement and sharpening using tools specifically designed for that purpose. Inspecting all spot welding work, including fit and function of components and maintaining safe workplace.
Essential Job Functions:
The Spot Welder will have several Roles and Responsibilities including, but not limited to the following:
- Spot Weld all metal components using C-gun or Scissor gun
- Examines workpiece for defects and measures workpiece with straightedge or template to ensure conformance with specifications
- Able to read blueprints and drawings; use a tape measure, dial calipers and micrometer
- Follows method instruction sheet as to set-up of work area
- Must be able to properly set-up machine with reference to type, thickness, shape, and contour of material to be worked on
- Determines and adjusts pressure and power stroke
- Performs typical working operations such as assembling parts in proper position, alignment, and relationship
- Straightens parts, if necessary; welds parts together to complete assembly
- Locates spots per print to minimize warpage, creepage; performs welding inspection for conformance to standards
- Recognizes improper functions and corrects by adjusting machine
- Re-dress electrode tips to provide good welding of components
- Performs rework as necessary
- Performs regular Spot Welder’s functions with the continuous manual lifting of sub-assemblies and assemblies
- Know and able to perform all responsibilities for this department including operation and set-up of all equipment in department
- Able to train other employees
- Master all processing and skills in department
- Includes all duties and responsibilities of a Spot Welder entry and skilled level
- Must perform all work in accordance with all applicable safety procedures.
- Assist in other areas of need based on Supervisor/Manager discretion.
- Other duties and responsibilities as assigned.

Required Skills and Abilities:
- High school diploma or general education degree (GED); or four years related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience.
- 1-2 years’ experience in resistance welding.
- A relevant certificate from a welding association preferred.
- Ability to read and interpret blueprints pertaining to welding.
- To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty efficiently, safely and in an acceptable manner.
- Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals; write routine reports and correspondence; follow written and/or verbal orders.
- Ability to add, subtract, multiply, and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals.
- Understand fundamentals of material flow through production floor.
- Working knowledge of tools and machinery.
- The ability and desire to work overtime is required.
- Regularly lift and/or move objects 20-25 lbs.; occasionally lift and/or move objects that weigh more than 100 lbs.
- Able to withstand temperatures in a typical warehouse environment.
