Kinesiology Program 

The Kinesiology program at Northwest Nazarene University offers the following degrees:  

  • BA in Recreation and Sport management with concentration areas in: athletic training, kinesiology coaching, sport management and outdoor recreation 
  • BA Secondary Education: Physical Education 
  • BS in Pre Physical Therapy: Athletic Training 
  • BA in Sports Psychology 

The department faculty is dedicated to student centered teaching, innovative delivery and teaching methods and a successful candidate will be expected to display expertise in several areas related to our course offerings.  


Description of Position 

Candidates are sought to teach a full-time (9 month) position in the department of Kinesiology. Candidates will have expertise in the Athletic Training, Exercise Science, Physical Education, or a related field. The position requires teaching undergraduate on-campus and web based courses in Exercise Science that may include biomechanics, exercise physiology motor learning and development, and test and measurement courses, general education courses in wellness and heart healthy activities, as well as classes related to either physical education pedagogy or athletic training.  


Essential Functions 

  • Teaches courses in fitness related activity courses, introductory theory courses, and exercise science laboratories. 
  • Advises undergraduate recreation and sports management majors. 
  • Recruits new students into the program and demonstrates enthusiasm and passion for the field of study. 
  • Engages in student/faculty research as needed. 
Requirements

 

Required Qualifications 

  • Minimum of a M.S. or M.Ed. degree in Exercise Science or related discipline 
  • College level teaching experience relevant to Exercise Science (e.g., Exercise Physiology, Kinesiology, Exercise Testing and Prescription, Nutrition, Strength and Conditioning, Physical Education, Athletic Training, etc.)

Preferred Qualifications 

  • Doctorate in Kinesiology, or related field 
  • Graduate teaching experience 
  • Teaching experience via Canvas online delivery systems, and experience in advising students. Coaching/Teaching Pedagogy Experience,  
  • Demonstrated scholarly achievements with a record of publications in peer-reviewed journals and demonstrated experience with competitive funded research projects.

The salary will be determined by the educational background and experience of each applicant.
