POSITION TITLE: Agronomy Central Dispatch Lead/Operations


IMMEDIATE SUPERVISOR: Agronomy Department Manager


POSITION PURPOSE:

The primary function of this position is to oversee the daily dispatch and delivery of product and services at the facilities assigned and assist in general labor duties of agronomy operations.


RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Prepare accurate liquid and dry blends of products according to customer specifications
  • Maintain the condition and quality of liquid and dry chemical materials
  • Be accountable for all actions in handling incoming, stored and outgoing product
  • Utilize available storage space as efficiently as possible
  • Communicate inventory needs with procurement manager and/or operations manager
  • Complete all related paper work in a timely manner
  • Efficiently deliver products to applicators.
  • Ensure services are performed in such a manner as to maintain good customer relations
  • Know and follow all company safety policies/procedures. Perform work in a safe manner while observing all traffic laws and all OSHA state and federal safety regulations
  • Comply with all federal and state Department of Transportation regulations
  • Perform pre-trip and post-trip inspections. Report all maintenance items to supervisor
  • Maintain equipment in operational and cleanly appearances at all times; work with agronomy operations manager in the scheduling of equipment maintenance work to be performed
  • Oversee and supervise agronomy operations staff on location; work with agronomy operations manager to develop and assign work tasks on a day-to-day basis for operations personnel. Report back to agronomy operations manager completion of scheduled work assignments and any concerns needing resolution
  • Train new agronomy operations personnel as needed
  • Represent yourself and the cooperative professionally at all times in action and appearance
  • Develop and maintain positive work relationships with the agronomy team having a positive attitude that promotes team work within the cooperative
  • Make decisions and follow instructions with little or no supervision
  • Perform other duties as requested by supervisor or management

BASIC REQUIREMENTS:

  • High school diploma
  • 2+ years of experience in agronomy operations
  • Knowledge of liquid and dry farm chemical products
  • Must have a valid Class D driver’s license and be an insurable driver in accordance with property and casualty insurance guidelines. A Class A CDL is preferred, but not required.
  • Ability to operate blending equipment, loaders, conveyors, tractors and semi’s
  • Have availability to work extended hours during peak seasons
  • Possess computer and data entry skills
  • Must be able to follow directions and effectively communicate with others
  • Must have strong time management and leadership skill.
  • Agriculture background preferred but not required

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS

  • Have the ability to lift up to 75lbs.; climb ladders and/or rail cars, stairs, and bins at extended heights; withstand extended periods of walking and standing
  • May also be required to work in confined spaces
  • Operational areas result in exposure to a variety of temperatures and prevailing weather conditions. This may also result in exposure to dust, odors, gases, vapors, wet or slick surfaces and loud noises. Where appropriate, wears personal protective equipment (PPE) in compliance with Company standards and governmental regulations
