Director of Alumni Relations 


Position Description 

The Director of Alumni Relations is responsible for developing and implementing strategies to engage and connect with alumni, work cooperatively with the Alumni Association, and provide leadership and strategic planning in an effort to strengthen and expand the relationship between NNU and its alumni.  This position is a twelve-month, exempt position and reports to the Vice President for External Relations. 


Essential Functions 

The essential functions of this position include but are not limited to: 

  • Plans, coordinates, and executes a variety of events, activities and experiences to foster connections among alumni and between alumni and NNU.  
  • Works collaboratively with the Director of the University Fund to develop and implement strategies to solicit alumni support, including volunteering and fundraising; engages alumni in philanthropic activities and campaigns. 
  • Organizes and oversees the integration of volunteers to provide support for the responsibilities of the Alumni Relations office and other campus-related activities. 
  • Partners with NNU’s Marketing Department in the content creation and look of brochures, website, mailings, and social media/email campaigns. 
  • Manages all aspects of the use of rooms in the Alumni House, including hospitality, bookings, cleaning, and financial deposits. 
  • Recruits, trains and manages student workers and the Student Alumni Council (SAC). 
  • Researches current trends and best practices in alumni relations and engagement, and in the broader advancement field. 
  • Follows through on all logistics of an event from start to finish; includes exceptional event planning/detail-oriented skills. 
  • Performs other duties as assigned. 
Requirements

 Minimum Qualifications 

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Business or related field of study 
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills 
  • Ability to follow through on all the logistics of an event from start to finish; includes exceptional event planning/detail-oriented skills   
  • Computer competency with knowledge of Microsoft Suite and the ability to learn job specific programs 
  • Computer systems knowledge and technical awareness to work with complex information systems and electronic databases  
  • Uphold high confidentiality with constituent and institutional information 
  • Ability to travel up to 20% of the time to meet with constituents  
  • The University requires that all candidates?be Christians (preferably in the Wesleyan tradition), and must be comfortable with, in agreement with the mission and lifestyle values of NNU
