Next GED Plus Online is an innovative program where education comes to life through the power of virtual reality (VR). Our cutting-edge approach is designed to engage students and foster a deep understanding of Math and Literacy skills, while also building content knowledge in Science and Social Studies, in an immersive and interactive environment.

The e-Teacher is a function of the Next Online team of Zero Dropouts. This position reports directly to the Director of Learning & Innovation and is based out of Denver, Colorado. The e-Teacher provides instructional and operational support in the following key areas:

Curriculum & Instruction

  • Develop and facilitate blended standards-referenced, process-oriented courses in endorsed content area(s) using approved platforms
  • Integrate cooperative learning experiences that build community, connection, and critical thinking
  • Develop and facilitate synchronous Skills & Strategies Workshops in endorsed content area(s), relevant academic interventions, Digital Literacy, SEL, etc. based on student needs and utilizing online platforms
  • Record synchronous lessons and post to LMS for students to access during off-hours
  • Support students with personalized lessons by providing 1:1 tutoring, as needed
  • Implement accommodations in accordance with IEPs and 504s

Student Engagement

  • Support students in developing a sense of belonging and connection in an online environment
  • Maintain virtual office hours and meet with students one-on-one by appointment
  • Use educational technology tools and strategies that improve learner participation and outcomes
  • Communicate regularly with students, families, district staff, and relevant ZD staff to support student engagement and participation efforts

Progress Monitoring

  • Track and monitor student attendance, engagement, and assessment results in order to tailor instruction and interventions appropriately to meet student needs
  • Utilize daily and weekly student engagement and participation data to provide interventions to students who would benefit from additional support
  • Enter scores/grades in LMS and provide feedback to students on their progress in a timely manner
  • Collect anecdotal data–such as stories, artifacts, quotes and testimonials from students and their families–to support reporting to internal and external stakeholders
  • Maintain required documentation for October Count

Professional Development

  • Attend professional development opportunities and engage in instructional coaching that promotes improved instructional strategies and supports
  • Continually refine practices in response to new learning or research
  • Collaborate with program staff to share best practices and implement consistent approaches across content areas
  • Work within the ZD network to share best practices and provide support to fellow employees and programs

Collaboration

  • Utilize all available communication platforms (Outlook, Teams, Trello, etc.) to engage with co-workers, students, and other stakeholders in a timely manner consistent with professional expectations.
  • Meet regularly with the Next Online team to develop and maintain consistent practices across platforms, evaluate ed tech tools, analyze data, etc.
  • Participate in ZD meetings, team-building experiences, and professional development activities as requested and appropriate to the position
  • Develop district and community partnerships through participation in community events to support program improvements, student recruitment, postsecondary opportunities, extracurricular/enrichment experiences, service-learning projects, etc.
  • Participate on Zero Dropouts Design Teams for product development as appropriate
Requirements

REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS

  • Teaching experience in a secondary educational setting, preferably with at-risk students
  • Passionate and committed belief that youth can rise above seemingly insurmountable obstacles and return to school, complete high school, and enter and succeed at post-secondary education and employment
  • Knowledge of curriculum and instruction, including but not limited to online and blended learning
  • Experience and comfort working with high school students from diverse backgrounds as well as their families and support networks as it relates to education
  • Knowledge of the community college and career technical education systems and the transitioning of students from secondary to postsecondary opportunities
  • Work collaboratively with internal staff, students and external partners
  • Demonstrate clear and appropriate boundaries with youth
  • Expert technology and digital literacy skills for online educational settings

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS

  • Knowledge of GED exam and curriculum
  • Bachelor’s Degree
  • A current Colorado Teacher License
  • Knowledge and experience working with public school districts, along with postsecondary programs and partners

WORK SCHEDULE –  This is a full-time position, Monday- Friday. In certain cases, flexible scheduling is necessary where you will be needed to work evenings and weekends. 

SALARY-  This is an exempt position with a salary based upon qualifications, knowledge, and relevant experience. The range is $55,000-$60,000/ year.
