At The Spark, we bring Central Pa. together to talk about interesting topics and spark a better understanding of what’s going on in your community. If you’re interested in being a part of these conversations, then WITF has the perfect opportunity for you. As the Producer/Researcher, you will work as part of a team that produces and airs The Spark live on WITF-FM from Noon-1:00pm Monday-Friday. Outside of the show, you will also work on the following:
- Planning and development of segments for The Spark; research and develop ideas and guests; writes scripts; conduct pre-interview, schedules interviews, and coordinate hosts.
- Contribute to editorial decisions regarding assembly of information and content.
- Participate in daily and weekly feedback and planning meetings, and group and individual airchecks.
- Communicate daily rundown and production schedules with production and news staff.
- Organize the overall show order for flow and high production values.
- Identify produced features and packages that can be incorporated into the show.
- Collaborates with executive producer to write, develop, and submit grant proposals.
- Maintain list of potential/future topics and guests to appear on the program
- Produces additional content for use during the show and for distribution via online and other news programming
- Post content highlights of a program live and afterwards to social media
- Establish contacts and sources for use in future topics and guests
- Have a good sense of local, regional, and statewide issues. Keep abreast of developments by studying news sources, attending events etc.
- Other duties as assigned
Requirements
Candidates should have a bachelor’s degree and experience as a reporter, journalist, or producer along with excellent communication skills. Experience interviewing guests on air is a plus.
