Background:

Rose Rock Bridge is an early-stage energy tech startup incubator dedicated to recruiting and nurturing energy technology companies, with the aim to establish an energy innovation hub in Tulsa, OK. Rose Rock Bridge offers commercialization support in the form of non-dilutive financing, federal grant applications, IP & legal support, and piloting opportunities with energy corporations. Rose Rock Bridge is backed by strategic partners such as George Kaiser Family Foundation, Williams, Devon Energy, ONEOK, H&P, Energy Innovation Capital, and PartnerTulsa.



Job Purpose:

The Platform Manager will be responsible for providing startup support services at Rose Rock Bridge, driving early-stage energy technologies—particularly those originating as university spin-outs—towards commercialization and successful pilot programs with Rose Rock Bridge energy partners. This is a comprehensive role that includes startup support, corporate partnership management, and regional ecosystem development.



Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Tech commercialization support: Support incubated founders to co-develop early-stage energy technologies (5 per year), providing lab-to-market support. 
  • Startup Support: Act as the primary point of contact for all Rose Rock Bridge member companies and serve as the liaison between startups and startup support services, including legal, marketing, mentorship, and grant-writing. Develop new support services and relationships as required.
  • Funding Strategy: Direct startups in raising venture capital and securing grant funding, including facilitating grant proposals and leveraging existing networks for funding opportunities.
  • Corporate Partnerships: Build and maintain strong relationships with corporate partners, facilitating pilot opportunities and leading negotiations to secure pilot projects for member startups.
  • Ecosystem Development: Provide support to startups to build teams in Tulsa, create a plan to scale-up in the region, and integrate into the local entrepreneurial community.
  • Network Expansion: Build and manage a strong national network of corporate, capital, and community partners for Rose Rock Bridge through targeted outreach and attendance at relevant events.



Outcomes:

  • Technology Commercialization: Successfully bring at least five early-stage energy technologies through the Rose Rock Bridge program each year, translating research and ideation into scalable startup opportunities.
  • Startup Growth: Ensure that member companies exhibit year-on-year growth in key performance metrics such as team expansion, product development progress, and market penetration.
  • External Funding: Achieve funding objectives for Rose Rock Bridge member startups by securing venture capital and grant funding for member startups.
  • Pilot Project Launches: Launch multiple pilot projects with corporate partners annually, contributing to the practical validation and iteration of member startups’ technologies.
  • Tulsa Integration: Facilitate the establishment of startups in Tulsa, with evidence of successful team building, scale-up, and integration into the local business ecosystem.
  • Strategic Network Growth: Expand the Rose Rock Bridge network by establishing and maintaining active relationships with corporate entities, investors, and community organizations, resulting in tangible support and opportunities for the Rose Rock Bridge platform and member companies.


Requirements

Requirements and Experience:

  • Educational Background: A bachelor’s degree is required, with preference for advanced degrees in business, entrepreneurship, or related fields.
  • Professional Track Record: At least 5 years in roles related to startup incubation, product development, or entrepreneurship.
  • Energy Sector Experience: Experience with energy technology or related fields is strongly preferred.
  • Travel and Flexibility: Willingness to travel up to 20% of the time, both domestically and internationally, with a valid driver's license and passport.

  • Based in Tulsa, OK, with a flexible hybrid work schedule.
