Description

  

CMS is currently looking for a Site Superintendent


Candidate must have a minimum of ten (10) years of experience in construction with at least five (5) of those as a Superintendent on previous projects of similar size and complexity.  The Superintendent may serve as the Quality Control Manager (QCM). The candidate must be familiar with the requirements of EM 385-1-1 and have experience in the areas of hazard identification and safety compliance. The candidate must be capable of interpreting a critical path schedule and construction drawings. 


  

Duties and Responsibilities (Essential Job Functions)

  • Documentation and Observation, must be onsite at all times during the performance of this contract until the work is completed and accepted. 
  • Plans and documents daily/weekly look ahead work schedules and production activities/goals.
  • Ensures execution of site activities is in accordance with approved Statement/Scope of Work (SOW), work plans, and applicable laws and regulations. 
  • Maintains and updates the Project Field Manual.
  • Coordinates site work, including subcontractor activities to ensure safe, efficient, quality completion of projects on time and within budget.
  • Monitor work performance and productivity of trades to ensure project specifications, procedures, quality, and safety requirements are maintained.
  • Advise Project Management team of potential problems, work interference, and schedule difficulties; assist in avoidance and resolution of these matters. Reports immediately to the Project Management team any variance in production rates that would adversely affect cost or schedule. 
  • Must attend Red Zone meetings, partnering meetings, and quality control meetings. Must use Red Zone Checklist as a Plan of Action and Milestones (POAM) and basis for discussion, review upcoming critical activities and strategies to ensure work is completed on time. The Superintendent must be on-site at all times during the performance of this contract until the work is completed and accepted. 
  • Signs daily reports. 
  • Responsible for safety onsite.
  • Manage onsite meetings and distribute schedule updates and meeting minutes
  • Complete daily project documentation requirements including tailgate meetings, production reports, photo logs, etc. 
  • Maintain liaison with other departments to ensure all required materials, equipment, inspections, etc., support project activities and schedule
  • Coordinate with Government personnel and outside agencies
  • Perform other duties as assigned.
  • Must be a citizen of the United States
  • Must be able to fluently and effectively speak, write, and comprehend English
  • Must be able to pass the US Navy’s required security background check. 
Requirements

  

Education and Experience

  • A graduate of a 4-year accredited college or university program in one of the following disciplines: Engineering, Architecture, Construction Management, Engineering Technology, Building Constructions, or Building Science, with a minimum of ten (10 years) experience in construction with at least five (5) of those years as superintendent on projects similar in size and complexity. 

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:


Contractual mandates for a person filling this position (non-negotiable):

  • Must be familiar with the requirements of EM 385-1-1 and have experience in the areas of hazard identification and safety compliance.
  • Must be capable of reading, writing, and conversing fluently in the English language, on the job-site at all times during the performance of Contract work. 
  • Must professionally represent the company verbally, in writing, and in person to clients, associates, and all others that may have contact with.
  • Ability to make informed decisions and take responsibility for the outcomes. Willingness to embrace personal and professional development.
  • Ability to effectively work with a team to achieve project goals.
  • Knowledge of various construction disciplines, safety regulations, scheduling, cost control, and thorough understanding of construction documents 
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office tools
  • Excellent organization and documentation are required

Supervisor Responsibilities

  • Reports directly to the Operations Field Manager
  • Works under the supervisor of a Project Manager
  • Will supervise/coordinate subcontractor and trade performance 

Working Conditions

  • Physical effort required for frequent lifting or moving of materials
  • Is regularly required to sit or stand, bend, and reach
  • Ability to lift up to forty (40) pounds and walk a project site
  • Work is regularly performed in outside weather conditions
  • Must  have valid driver’s license, be insurable on the company insurance and able to travel as required. 
  • Must meet the eligibility requirements for access to US Government facilities.       
  • This position does not require active security clearance.
