Under the supervision of the AmCare Leadership team the AEMT is an integral part of the AmCare EMS team, providing medical care during emergent and nonemergent transports. The AEMT is responsible for assessing patients' conditions, administering advanced life support, and transporting patients to medical facilities for further treatment. AEMTs are an integral part of the healthcare system, provide critical care during emergencies and making a significant impact on patient‘s lives. The role of the AEMT demands quick thinking, compassion, and the ability to work as part of a team to deliver timely and effective pre-hospital care.


The roles and responsibilities of the AEMT include:

  • Provide excellent patient care within the scope of practice of an AEMT
  • Provide safe transport of the patient and crew
  • Respond to emergent and non-emergent transports 
  • Provides effective communication with patients, dispatch, crews, family members, and facility staff
  • Ability operation communication devices; portable radio, cell phone, computer tablet
  • Completion of patient contact reports prior to shift completion
  • Ensure maintenance of vehicles and equipment for transport readiness
  • Maintain cleanliness of station 
  • Maintain certifications with timely completion of refresher courses and CMEs
  • Remain current on all state protocols, policies, and/or procedures 
  • Represent AmCare at community events as assigned 
Requirements

QUALIFICATIONS AND EDUCATION REQUIREMENTS

  • Graduation From High School or equivalent
  • 19 years old at time of hire for insurance purposes
  • Successful completion of NRAEMT certification
  • Current NRAEMT and State AEMT (or ability to obtain with in 10 days of hire)
  • Current AHA BLS CPR or ability to obtain within 10 days of hire
  • Current AHA ACLS CPR or ability to obtain within 10 days of hire
  • Current AHA PALS CPR or ability to obtain within 10 days of hire 
  • Ability to provide quality patient care within scope of practice
  • Knowledge of all state protocols for an AEMT
  • Valid driver’s license
  • Ability to drive company vehicles with a clean driving record
  • Clear search on the VT AHS Adult Abuse Registry and Child Protection Registry databases
  • Successful completion of a state sponsored EVOC course or ability to obtain in 90 days
  • Ability to pass a lift test of 150 – 200 pounds
  • Ability to pass a pre-employment drug test
  • Ability to pass a pre-employment background check
  • Ability to speak and write English

Salary Description
$21 - 24 an hour including differential & bonuses
