Admissions Counselor
Graduate & Professional Studies (GPS) Students
Description of Position
The Admissions Counselor for Graduate & Professional Studies represents the university for the purpose of promoting student interest in enrollment. The Admissions Counselor is a member of the Enrollment Services team and has responsibility for recruitment activities in identified recruitment constituencies. The Admissions Counselor position is under the direct supervision of the Director of Graduate Admissions, and works closely with the Vice President for Enrollment Management. This is a full-time, 12-month, non-exempt position.
Essential Functions

- Participates in strategic planning efforts including setting measurable outcome expectations and goals.
- Plans, implements, and conducts sales and recruitment activities.
- Travels for recruitment activities at churches and schools, college fairs, and recruitment events, as well as visits with pastors, employers, teachers, and school administrators.
- Develops and delivers sales presentations to promote NNU’s programs.
- Researches and maintains up-to-date information on competing schools to facilitate persuasive and successful sales conversations.
- Counsels prospective students on college choices as well as admissions and financial aid procedures.
- Initiates, develops, and maintains professional relationships with prospective students, pastors, employers, teachers, and administrators.
- Manages and maintains assertive phone, email and text contact with potential NNU students.
- Acts as a liaison with various collegiate units on campus and coordinates special recruitment efforts.
- Coordinates the recruitment of an assigned segment of prospective student population.
- Performs other duties as assigned.
Minimum Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree
- Demonstrated ability to interact effectively and enthusiastically with students, parents, pastors, and other constituencies
- Demonstrated ability to communicate effectively in oral and written forms
- Must be willing to travel and work extended hours
- Computer skills, including word processing, email and internet applications
- Ability to maintain confidential information and files
- Ability to work well within a team and promote cooperation
- Ability to occasionally lift up to 30 pounds
- Ability to work while sitting, standing and/or walking for extended periods of time
Preferred Qualifications
- Current knowledge of NNU
- Experience in sales/marketing
- Understanding of the Nazarene Church
- Experience working in Higher Education
Compensation
Salary will be determined by the educational background and experience of each applicant and will be discussed with individual candidates as they are invited to interview for this position.
