Caseworker - Victims of Crime (VOCA) Program

Part-time position with Arabic or Swahili language fluency required, 20 hrs/wk, competitive hourly rate, non-exempt, flexible spending account (FSA) program, 403b tax-deferred retirement savings option, availability during general office hours of 8:30am-4:30pm Monday thru Friday with possible availability in evenings and weekends 

Provide direct support services and advocacy for clients

Complete intake assessment with clients

Refer clients to community resources and other organizations

May work in collaboration with other professional disciplines

Develop strengths-based service plan in collaboration with client

Assist clients to complete and file applications for victims’ compensation

May be required to visit clients in homes or other institutions

Counsel clients regarding plans for meeting needs and aids client to mobilize inner capacities and environmental resources to improve social functioning

May assist in informing clients about public benefit entitlements

Provide translation and interpretation as necessary for program clients

Publicize program services in the community

Compile case file records and prepare monthly reports

Attends and contributes to program and agency meetings and trainings

Ensure provided services respect the rights, privacy and dignity of the client and adheres to all contractual regulations

Other tasks as may be assigned


Degree from a four-year university or equivalent experience in a directly related profession

Experience delivering outreach services (preferably with victims of crime)

Resourceful, pro-active problem-solving ability

Fluency in English and Arabic or Swahili

Skilled in interpersonal in intercultural communication

Strong organizational skills

Experienced working with diverse populations

Working knowledge of MS Word, Excel and Access, the Internet and e-mail

Ability to travel (without notice) around Columbus in order to accompany clients

Excellent (English) writing skills

Professional demeanor

Prefer casework experience
