Interplan is a commercial architectural and engineering firm with over 50 years of experience specializing in restaurant and retail design for large nationwide clients. With offices in Orlando and Chicago, our Orlando office is expanding, and we are seeking a talented Electrical Engineer to join our team. We are thrilled to offer a sign-on bonus for this outstanding opportunity!

Responsibilities

  • Conduct Existing conditions reviews of survey information provided by 3rd-parties
  • Design knowledge of lighting systems and controls
  • Emergency lighting and egress systems
  • Life — Safety building requirements
  • Fire alarm, smoke detector and strobe/alarm design
  • Equipment and Systems specifications
  • Knowledge/understanding of electrical building codes and NEC
  • Site lighting photometrics Code compliance review
  • Mentor, Teach, and provide design direction to Entry-Level and Junior-Level designers and engineers
  • Perform Construction Administrative duties including by not limited to:
  •  Client, Contractor, and Plan Review communications and dispute resolutions
  • Shop drawing and electrical submittal reviews
  • Response to Permit Comments and Client requests
  • Specifications review
  • Conduct site visit surveys and reports with clients 
  • Quality Control and Quality Assurance of electrical designs prior to issuance
  • Oversee and coordinate project budgets and design scheduling
Requirements

Qualifications & Prior Experience

  • 10+ years experience in the design of building electrical systems required
  • Must have PE, a plus if licensed in multiple states
  • Must be willing to get licensed in other states
  • Design experience in other states a plus
  • Experience in restaurant and retail a plus
  • Knowledge of electrical and mechanical materials and systems and their application
  • Knowledge of NEC codes and application to specific design
  • Knowledge of Energy Codes and solutions
  • Experience with power systems, lighting systems, and building control systems
  • Strong communication skills required
