Position Overview:

The Warranty & Quality Validation Technician conducts standard inspection procedures for new parts and existing parts as directed. This position pulls sample parts and conducts product inspections according to established procedures set by the Product Quality Engineer. This position documents inspection results on worksheets or in the ERP system for further evaluation by the appropriate engineering team members. The Warranty & Product Validation Engineer supervises this position.


Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Using the standard DMA inspection process for each type of product; measure and create inspection information for every development part sample for the responsible Product Quality Engineer to evaluate.
  • Visit DMA warehouse locations to conduct first arrival and random sample inspections as assigned.
  • Conduct preliminary inspections for new part prototypes from the factory and record the results.
  • Assist the Warranty & Product Validation Engineer with repair part crew training and inspections.
  • Follow a written inspection schedule provided by the ERP system and Product Quality Engineer.
  • Safely disassemble and reassemble parts as necessary to facilitate inspection activities.
  • Safely work in active warehouse operations and coordinate with warehouse team members, as necessary.
  • Prepares preliminary write up of warranty inspection results
Requirements

 Education/Experience & Skills:

  • High School graduate with a minimum of 2 years working experience in part inspections or manufacturing. Technical School, military training, or strong knowledge of automobile repair are pluses.
  • Understand and demonstrate the proper techniques for operating and maintaining measurement tools, hand tools, and testing equipment.
  • Ability to complete standard forms in Microsoft Office or the ERP system.
  • Ability to read and interpret data from drawings and specifications.
  • Ability to lift parts to 50 pounds from the floor to a worktable for inspection.
  • Requires ability to self direct work
  • Requires problem solving skills to assess parts and ascertain probable reasons for failures
  • The primary work location is the Wellman Laboratory. This position will travel to other DMA warehouse locations to inspect new products based on a schedule created by the Product Quality Engineer. 


Language Skills: Ability to read and write in English. Ability to effectively articulate and present information and respond to questions from Management in a professional manner.
