Teacher - Full Time
Description


A full-time Teacher must be a born-again Christian, committed to living a biblical lifestyle and called by God to teach at Harvest School. This position teaches, plans, directs and coordinates student activities at the elementary level: academic, social, physical and spiritual wholeness, with compassion, encouragement and leadership. A full-time Teacher must be dependable, friendly, enthusiastic, creative and organized, with the ability to relate well with children, parents, school staff and volunteers. They teach with integrity, honesty and knowledge that promotes Harvest’s culture, values and mission.


Requirements
  • Maintain a positive Christian atmosphere in the classroom.
  • Demonstrate a Christ-like and positive professional attitude toward students; treat students with respect, remain objective when dealing with student problems, grading, etc.
  • Instruct students individually and in groups, using various teaching methods such as lectures, discussions and demonstrations.
  • Establish clear objectives for all lessons and projects; communicate those objectives to students. 
  • Prepare materials and classroom activities to encourage student participation, using various teaching and motivation techniques.
  • Provide a variety of materials and resources for children to explore, manipulate and use, both in learning activities and in imaginative play. 
  • Facilitate student learning by supplementing regular curriculum materials with a variety of instructional materials and activities, such as media, field trips, related non-curricular materials and activities, etc.
  • Adapt teaching methods and instructional materials to meet students' varying needs, abilities, personalities and interests.  
  • Develop techniques to help students improve their academic, physical and spiritual learning potential.
  • Organize classroom efficiently to meet the educational and physical needs of students.
  • Attend to student needs by walking around the classroom and responding to raised hands.
  • Provides additional time beyond the regular daily schedule for students in need of assistance.
  • Encourage and build mutual trust, respect and cooperation among students, faculty and parents.
  • Observe and evaluate students' performance, behavior, social development and physical health in an objective and consistent manner through quizzes, tests, projects, reporting grades, physical fitness performance, etc.
  • Maintain thorough student records to document attendance, participation, or progress, ensuring confidentiality of all records.
  • Provide students positive feedback to encourage and help them develop an appreciation for academic achievement, physical education and spiritual growth.
  • Reinforce and reward appropriate social and academic behavior in the classroom.
  • Prepare students for later grades by encouraging them to explore learning opportunities and to persevere with challenging tasks.
  • Establish and enforce behavior rules and procedures for maintaining order among the students for whom they are responsible, always placing students’ health and safety first.
  • Implement consistent and early behavior problem intervention by walking around the classroom, interacting with students, redirecting student attention to tasks, consistently applying student management plan, informing/involving parents in discipline/discipleship process and carefully following Administrative Discipline Process.
  • Meet with parents and guardians to discuss their children's progress and to determine priorities for their children and their resource needs.
  • Communicate with parents, volunteers and other external sources, by communicating in person, in writing, by telephone or e-mail, and represent Harvest in a positive manner.
  • Provide general supervision of all students throughout the school, such as hallways, courtyard, cafeteria, lunch area, playground, off-campus field trips, etc.
  • Prepare in advance for substitute teacher (e.g., lesson plans, student assignments, classroom activities, etc.).
  • Develop constructive and cooperative working relationships with staff and maintain them over time.
  • Maintain a professional behavior in accordance with the Teacher Manual and Harvest Christian Fellowship Employee Manual, and a wiliness to follow school’s policies and procedures.
  • Accept change in a positive Christ-like and professional manner, such as implementing new programs and policies, a willingness to accept decisions made by others, etc.
  • Accept evaluation and redirection and makes necessary changes or adjustments.
  • Remain current in the educational field through course work, in-service activities, professional literature, conferences, workshops, etc.
  • Physical requirements, with or without accommodation, include: prolonged periods of sitting, standing, walking, handling materials, keyboard typing, hand motion, foot motion, looking at a computer screen
  • Must be 18 years old or older to apply.

Annual Salary Range:  $46,151.00 - $64,732.00
