About the job:

Concessionaires 2 are responsible for preparing and serving food and beverage items, conducting cashier duties, maintaining kitchen cleanliness and performing day-to-day equipment maintenance for concession operations, as well as assisting with general customer service duties.


A day in the life:

  • Provides excellent customer service both externally and internally. Creates a positive experience for customers through professional and courteous behavior and effective problem resolution.
  • Assembles, prepares, and serves fresh, semi-prepared, and pre-packaged foods in a manner compliant with Oregon food safety laws.
  • Serves as cashier including using point-of sale-system and processing cash and credit transactions.
  • Completes opening and closing procedures for concession operations.
  • Maintains cleanliness and sanitation of concession area, equipment, and surrounding areas.
  • Reports all equipment and supplies issues to a supervisor.
  • Assists Customer Service Specialist 2 and 3 including: directing public to activities, answering multi-line telephone, processing basic transactions and providing information on programs and facilities.
  • Takes and accurately logs temperatures of refrigerators, freezers, and ready-to eat hot and cold food.
  • Takes daily inventory and reports to supervisor.
  • Stocks and displays products according to first-in, first-out practice.
  • Travels between multiple facilities, including transporting food, typically in a vehicle.
  • Assists with emergency support as directed by others.
  • Acts as a Mandatory Reports; reports incidents of child abuse/neglect.
  • Performs other job-related duties as assigned.


Schedule:

7am to 1pm, days vary, but could include weekends and holidays.


Hours worked:

20hrs/week

What You'll Need for Success:

Strong Knowledge of:

  • Customer service standards;
  • Cashier and money handling procedures;
  • Best practices for food handling, storage, and disposal procedures; and
  • Basic math and computer skills.

Skill and Ability to:

  • Follow directions and procedures;
  • Greet and serve customers with professionalism, courtesy, and friendliness;
  • Take and process credit transactions securely and correctly, and issue receipts and change;
  • Communicate effectively, tactfully and pleasantly with all contacts, and address questions, requests, or complaints;
  • Navigate difficult conversations or situations with upset customers while maintaining rapport and resolving issues;
  • Work under pressure in a fast-paced environment, and complete tasks effectively;
  • Work independently while also being able to work cooperatively with others;
  • Establish and maintain positive, respectful and cooperative working relationships with all contacts; and
  • Support and assist other staff members as needed, and share feedback and suggestions for improvement.

What We're Looking For:

Education, Experience, and Training:

  1. Must be a minimum of 16 years of age; AND
  2. High school diploma or currently attending school; AND
  3. Some previous related volunteer or work experience in customer service or food service; OR
  4. Any satisfactory combination of education, experience and training.

License and Certifications:

  1. Possession of, or ability to obtain within five (5) days of hire, a current Oregon Food Handler Card.
  2. Some positions may require possession of, or ability to obtain valid Oregon driver’s license within 30 days with an acceptable driving history as defined by district driving policy.

Position Specific Requirement

This position may require reporting to additional sites throughout the workday, typically achieved in a motor vehicle OR other modes of transportation. If choosing a personal vehicle, possession of, or ability to obtain valid Oregon driver’s license within 30 days with an acceptable driving history as defined by district driving policy.


If you do not have a driver’s license or have an unacceptable driving history, it does not disqualify you from this position, only from driving a vehicle for district business.


Supervision Received:

Works under the general supervision of the Food and Beverage Supervisor. Carries out work with some independence but work and decisions are typically reviewed prior to final execution.


Supervision Exercised:

Supervision is not normally a responsibility of this classification; however, may provide some direction and leadership to Concessionaire 1 employees.


Working Conditions:

The following are working conditions, including environmental and physical demands, required for this classification.

  • Duties are primarily performed in a concession stand or kitchen, which can be hot and noisy.
  • While working in a kitchen environment, there may be exposure to steam, hot surfaces, caustic chemicals, fumes and odors.
  • Work is usually performed during evening and weekend hours.
  • Physical exertion may include squatting, bending, kneeling, reaching, pushing, pulling, lifting up to 40 pounds unassisted when cleaning, sanitizing, inventorying and stocking products.
  • Making substantial movements (motions) of the wrists, hands, and/or fingers. Manual dexterity and coordination; daily precise control of fingers and hand movements while operating telephone, kitchen tools, cash register, and computer.
  • The flow of work and character of duties involve normal mental and visual attention much or all of the time.

An offer of employment is contingent on the verification of credentials and other information required by Bend Park & Recreation District policies, including a background check and a driving history review when driving is required for position.
