Description
SUMMARY
The Athletic Trainer assists with injury prevention, injury evaluation and treatment, and rehabilitation of injuries incurred through athletic participation for our high school athletes. Experience within a secondary school setting is preferred.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS
- Prevention, evaluation, and recognition of athletic injuries and/or illnesses.
- First aid and emergency care at weekday practices
- Attend all home games and weekday practices
- Counsel athletes and their parents in seeking proper medical assistance for follow-up care and/or surgery
- Maintain records on athletic injuries, physician referrals, and treatments administered
- Ensure consistent communication with athletics staff, coaching staff, and parents regarding athlete injuries
- Provide a comprehensive concussion care program for PRCA's student-athletes
Requirements
REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS
- Strong interpersonal communication skills, both verbal and written
- Minimum of a Bachelor's degree from a 4-year college or university
- Valid Athletic Trainers' Certificate from the Board of Certification
- Valid License from the Arizona Board of Athletic Training
DESIRED QUALIFICATIONS
- Membership in any Athletic Trainers' professional organizations (NATA, RMATA, AZATA)
- Secondary School setting experience
PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS
- Must be able to lift and carry heavy, bulky supplies and materials weighing up to 25 lbs
- May be required to lift students/injured athletes
- May be required to travel to perform work functions
WORK ENVIRONMENT NOTES
- Must function well in a team environment with coaches, athletes, parents, and athletic directors
- Must keep clean, organized, and tidy the training room
- Must have patience with young people!
