High School Athletic Trainer
Description

SUMMARY


The Athletic Trainer assists with injury prevention, injury evaluation and treatment, and rehabilitation of injuries incurred through athletic participation for our high school athletes. Experience within a secondary school setting is preferred. 


ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS

  • Prevention, evaluation, and recognition of athletic injuries and/or illnesses. 
  • First aid and emergency care at weekday practices 
  • Attend all home games and weekday practices 
  • Counsel athletes and their parents in seeking proper medical assistance for follow-up care and/or surgery 
  • Maintain records on athletic injuries, physician referrals, and treatments administered 
  • Ensure consistent communication with athletics staff, coaching staff, and parents regarding athlete injuries
  • Provide a comprehensive concussion care program for PRCA's student-athletes
Requirements

 

REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS

  • Strong interpersonal communication skills, both verbal and written 
  • Minimum of a Bachelor's degree from a 4-year college or university
  • Valid Athletic Trainers' Certificate from the Board of Certification
  • Valid License from the Arizona Board of Athletic Training 

DESIRED QUALIFICATIONS

  • Membership in any Athletic Trainers' professional organizations (NATA, RMATA, AZATA)
  • Secondary School setting experience

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS

  • Must be able to lift and carry heavy, bulky supplies and materials weighing up to 25 lbs
  • May be required to lift students/injured athletes
  • May be required to travel to perform work functions

WORK ENVIRONMENT NOTES

  • Must function well in a team environment with coaches, athletes, parents, and athletic directors 
  • Must keep clean, organized, and tidy the training room 
  • Must have patience with young people!
