Refined Fuels Driver
Description

The Refined Fuels Driver at United Farmers Cooperative plays a pivotal role in driving sales growth while ensuring efficient and safe delivery of refined fuels, propane, and lubricants. This position requires a keen focus on customer engagement, route optimization, and effective communication to foster loyalty and support for the cooperative. The ideal candidate will be responsible for maximizing sales opportunities, delivering products cost-effectively, and building positive relationships with patrons and employees. This role demands a strong commitment to safety, operational excellence, and upholding the values and reputation of United Farmers Cooperative in every interaction. 


Primary Objectives of the Position:

Increases the sales of refined fuels and related products.

Delivers refined fuels and related products in a cost-efficient manner.

Delivers propane and related products in a cost-efficient manner.

Delivers lubes and related products in a cost-efficient manner.

Communicates with patrons and employees in a manner that will create support and loyalty for United Farmers Cooperative.

Major Areas of Accountability: 

1. Sells and promotes refined fuels, lube oil and filters.

2.  Delivers all refined fuels (gasoline, fuel oil, diesel and kerosene), lube oil and filters in a cost-efficient manner.

3. Delivers all propane in a cost-efficient manner.

4. Designs an efficient route system to serve customers at the lowest possible cost per mile of delivered product.

5. Maintains Schedule-Fill system and serves customers on a regular schedule.

6. Responsible for the maintenance and appearance of assigned vehicle.

7. Operates vehicle in a safe manner and in compliance with all OSHA and other state and federal regulations.

8. Communicates safe storage and handling procedures to all customers.

9. Monitors Bulk Plant inventories to assure adequate supplies at all times.

10. Responsible for the appearance of the Bulk Plant and Oil Shed.

11. Keeps Energy Operations Manager informed of competitive prices.

12. Keeps current on latest product information and is able to recommend proper application of all products sold.

13. Adheres to, and enforces, company credit policy.

14. Handles after hours requests for refined fuels delivery.

15. Develops and maintains efficient routes while utilizing tank monitor technologies. 

16. Responsible for upkeep of tank monitors assigned in their area. 

17. Performs routine customer tank inspections.

18. Responsible for accurate and timely reports as required on a daily basis.

19. Complies with company safety program.

20. Assists in resolving customer complaints quickly and fairly in accordance with company policies. Refers unusual situations to VP of Energy.

21. Maintains required logs, daily truck inspections and other required documentation.

22. Attends appropriate training sessions as part of programs of continuing education.

23. Must be able to perform all jobs within Energy Department.

24. Other duties as assigned.

Requirements

Qualifications:

Education: 

· High school graduate required. 

· Experience may be substituted for education

Experience: 

· Previous single axle truck driving desirable

· Mechanical aptitude desirable

· Ag background a plus

· Good people skills necessary

Other: 

· Must be in good physical condition capable of lifting, carrying 100 pounds and pushing weights up to 600 pounds and have full use of both arms and legs and both hands.

· Must be able to climb stairs, reach above, below and at shoulder level, work on moving machinery, work at unprotected heights with dust, fumes or gas and in temperature extremes both inside and outside.

· Be able to drive vehicles with manual and automatic transmissions.

· Must have a valid commercial driver’s license with hazard, tanker and other DOT endorsements.

· Pre-employment and random drug testing required.

· Must attend all training sessions required by law.
