AV Commissioning Engineer

Beep is on the forefront of autonomous technology, and we’re hiring for a unique, but critical role with our Company. The AV Commissioning Engineer is a member of our AV Operations team, reporting to the Director of QA & Deployments. This role will ensure Beep's fleet of Autonomous Vehicles are delivered, routed, and operate in excellent working order to both maximize customer service uptime and provide safe, reliable service to our customers. The primary duties of this role include work to design, map, and program autonomous geo-fenced routes. Additionally, the AV Commissioning Engineer will assist and lead the technical relationship with various vendors, support maintenance topics, vehicle inspections, verifying completed maintenance, aftermarket modifications, work with vendors to resolve any issues that limit shuttle autonomous route function & support advanced troubleshooting of the automated drive systems (ADS).


This is a full-time position based in our headquarters in Orlando, FL.


Responsibilities:

  • Partner with the Beep Command Center to assist in diagnosing ADS related
  • Diagnose & resolve level 1 & 2 technical tasks & assist in diagnosing and resolving issues with Beep’s fleet of autonomous vehicles
  • Ensure consistent implementation of vendor Operation Design Document limitations in creation of autonomous route planning and operations
  • Manage effects of vendor software updates to Beep’s autonomous vehicles, verifying safe operation in coordination with Federal, State, Local, and Customer regulations or requirements
  • Fully documenting work completed and travel expenses within online expense reporting systems
  • Effectively organize work across multiple priorities and programs; ability to adapt to constant-changing work environments
  • Collaborate with sales and pre-sales to determine route and vehicle capabilities during contract negotiation phase for new locations
    • Present and create technical documents (SOPs, excel spreadsheets, data)
    • Work with external vehicle vendors to procure parts and necessary services
    • Maintain vendor commissioning certifications (training provided)

  • Preferred: 1+ years’ experience using C++ software, experience with Python, 1+ years’ experience with Linux & SSH commands

Education and Experience:

  • Associate degree in engineering, Technology, Computer-aided Design, or equivalent experience
  • 3+ years of experience working in the automotive or engineering industries with a focus on vehicular operations
  • Autonomous fleet maintenance experience preferred
  • Demonstrates a safety-first attitude

Physical Requirements:

  • Prolonged periods of sitting, standing, walking, and/or driving, predominately at night.
  • Must be able to lift up to 50 pounds at times.
  • Travel up to 70%
