Description

Role

The Electrical and Instrumentation Engineer is responsible for design, specification, and application of electrical devices including control panels, motors, and instrumentation in engineering contracts. This position will report to the Director of Engineering and is located in Lancaster, Pennsylvania.


Duties and Responsibilities

  • Take the lead in designing, sizing and selection of electrical equipment and controls systems for projects in accordance with the project specifications and budget;
  • Produce and maintain project P&ID drawings;
  • Define and specify electrical control schematics for engineered systems and equipment packages
  • Produce electrical drawings (Panel Layout and PLC I/O) for standard components as well as custom solutions for engineering contracts as needed
  • Review and verify electrical control schematics produced by sub-supplier/third-party vendors;
  • Develop sequence of operation/logic narratives for PLC logic and HMI screens programming;
  • Prepare PLC programming and HMI screens for project controls systems as needed;
  • Develop and maintain project motor and instrument lists;
  • Coordinate all electrical and instrumentation design and scope of supply requirements with relevant customer and sub-supplier/third-party vendor counterparts;
  • Ensure that all required project technical documentation including P&ID’s, equipment drawings, general arrangement drawings, electrical wiring diagrams, specification sheets, data sheets, sequence of operation/logic narratives, and IOM manuals are complete and meet the customer’s requirements from an electrical and instrumentation perspective;
  • Develop and maintain internal electrical and instrumentation standards; work with Pelletron, customer, and ISA data sheets;
  • Direct and participate in controls systems FAT testing
  • Support Production/Assembly activities with electrical shop testing of equipment packages prior to shipment;
  • Resolve all customer complaints related to assigned projects in a timely and cost-effective manner;
  • Provide sales support and project feedback as required;
  • Develop and create start-up and commissioning plan for customer contracts; produce required documentation;
  • Support start-up activities at customer sites as needed.
Requirements

Qualifications and Work Experience

  • Minimum Bachelor's degree (B.S.); and five (5) years related experience and/or training in Electrical Engineering, P&ID drawings, plant process development, and instrumentation; or equivalent combination of education and experience;
  • Use of AutoCAD P&ID and AutoCAD Electrical or equivalent software package;
  • Experience with material handling and pneumatic conveying & Electrical instrumentation background or experience preferred;
  • Ability to read, interpret, and develop documents such as technical specifications, engineering reports, blueprints, office procedures, parts lists, and price book;
  • Ability to speak effectively, both on one on one, and in groups with vendors, customers, and employees of the Company;
  • Ability to work independently;
  • Ability to interpret a variety of instructions furnished in written or oral form;
  • Ability to solve practical problems, resolve conflicts, and deal with a variety of concrete variables in situations where only a limited standardized exists;
  • Ability to travel to vendors and customer premises;
  • Ability to climb ladders to platforms and silos in customer plants.
