POSITION SUMMARY

The Electrical CAD Drafter is responsible for drawing and detailing electrical components and complex electric assemblies using AutoCAD software.  The ECAD Drafter works closely with Electrical Engineering to produce drawings that are accurate, manufacturable, reliable, and maintainable.  The primary products of the ECAD Drafter are system diagrams (schematics), wirelists, cable marking diagrams, and cable drawings with associated parts lists.  The ECAD Drafter must also work closely with Electrical Engineering and Mechanical CAD groups to ensure the physical and packaging aspects of the electrical components integrate into the overall design.



ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

  1.  Work closely with Electrical Engineering to produce AutoCAD system prints, cable drawings, and top-level electrical      assemblies/installations in accordance with Government/Industry standards and Customer specifications. 
  2. Use system prints to generate Excel wirelists to aid manufacturing in wiring electronic assemblies.
  3. Provide support to manufacturing by resolving design and documentation issues during production phases.
  4. Document changes by to electrical drawings by creating engineering change documents.
  5. Supports Electrical Engineering with development of presentation materials for in customer meetings including requirement reviews, design reviews and acceptance testing.
  6. Support customer events such as configuration audits, etc.
  7. Work with and mentor other ECAD drafters of multiple levels to develop comprehensive and cohesive electrical designs.  Typical systems are A/C and D/C power distribution, grounding, I/O distribution, networking, KVM, Emergency Power Off, Overheat, and Audio. 


SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITES

This position does not have supervisory responsibilities.

Requirements

EXPERIENCE REQUIREMENTS

MID – 3 to 7 Years

SENIOR – 7+ Years

  1. Knowledge and experience with simulators or simulator industry a strong plus.
  2. Knowledge and proficiency with AutoCAD software.
  3. Knowledge of the terminology, methods, practices, and techniques of electrical CAD modeling/drawing production software.
  4. Knowledge of software commonly used in engineering work environments such as Microsoft Windows, MS Office, and Excel.
  5. Skill in drafting engineering plans of more than ordinary complexity and using CAD System.
  6. Ability to prepare complex drawings and schematics from rough sketches or oral instructions.
  7. Knowledge and experience with simulators or simulator industry a strong plus.
  8. Knowledge and proficiency with AutoCAD software highly desired.

  6. Proficiency in common business software (Microsoft Office – Word, Outlook, PowerPoint, Excel, SharePoint, Visio).
  7. Ability to work with project teams to successfully deliver new or modified functionalities.
  8. Keen attention to detail to deliver solutions that meet business requirements and are operationally supportable.


EDUCATION REQUIREMENTS

Associate Degree in Engineering Technology supplemented by advanced course work in engineering drafting; or any equivalent combination of training and experience.

MID - Equivalent experience to education and three years’ experience related to aircraft or flight simulation.

SENIOR - Equivalent experience to education and seven years’ experience related to aircraft or flight simulation.



EMPLOYMENT REQUIREMENTS

1. Due to contractual requirements must be a United States Citizen

2. Must be able to pass an initial background check.

3. Must be able to obtain and maintain an active Department of Defense security clearance. Employee/selected candidate will be subject to a government security investigation and must meet eligibility requirements for access to classified information (as required)

4. Travel (CONUS and/or OCONUS) is required to support on-site integration, testing, and acceptance which may include extended periods at customer locations.

5. ASI is a Drug Free Workplace where applicants and employees are required to successfully pass pre-employment and Random drug testing.



PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS

1. The physical demands described here are representative of those that must be met by an employee to successfully perform the essential functions of the job:

2. Must be able to perform normal office duties (sitting for long periods at a desk or while attending meetings).

3. Must be able to travel CONUS/OCONUS via multiple types of transportation to include car and airplane.

4. Must be able to climb stairs to enter and exit a simulator.

5. Additional skills may be required to perform additional task(s) specific to work location, department, or line of business.



WORK ENVIRONMENT

1. Work is primarily performed in an office environment consisting of offices and cubicles with low to moderate noise and bright or dim lighting.

2. The work is fast-paced and sometimes involves extreme deadline pressures.

3. The nature of the work requires a high degree of teamwork and cooperation with other members of the staff as well as external customers.
