Resident Director 


Residence Life at NNU 

Northwest Nazarene University houses approximately 700 students in six residence halls. The live-in staff consists of six Resident Directors and 31 Resident Assistants. NNU offers a progressive community development-based program, supported by strong educational programming and a student leadership emphasis within a Christian framework. Student development principles are taught to all staff and are used in programming, advising, and student conduct processes. The program is designed to empower students to be involved in the decision making process. 


Description of Position 

Qualified candidates are encouraged to apply for the position of Resident Director for the 2024-2025 academic year. This is a 10-month assignment beginning August 1, 2025. It is an occupational qualification that the university will accept only female applicants for female residence halls and male applicants for male residence halls for live-in positions. The Resident Director position is a full-time, 10-month Exempt position and reports to the AVP for Student Life. 


Essential Functions 

Reasonable accommodations may be made to enable individuals with disabilities to perform the essential functions. The Resident Director is responsible for the coordination of all aspects of the student life program in the female residence halls. Central to this responsibility is the creation of a living/learning community with the aid of Resident Assistants. The Resident Director supervises seven Resident Assistants and works under the direction of the AVP for Student Engagement.

Requirements

Minimum Requirements 

  • Bachelor's degree 
  • The University requires that all candidates be Christians (preferably in the Wesleyan tradition), and must be comfortable with and in agreement with the mission and lifestyle values of NNU 
  • Ability to perform all essential functions of this position 
  • Experience working with young people in groups and individually 
  • Demonstrated supervisory, managerial, and listening skills 

Preferred Requirements 

  • Master’s degree 

Compensation 

Salary will be determined by the educational background and experience of each applicant.
