The Banquet Server/Bartender is an essential part of the food and beverage (F&B) team at the forefront serving our members and guests during special club events.  This is a professional role who works collaboratively with the F&B team to create a positive and memorable experience. Job Knowledge, Core Competencies and Expectations  

  • Follows and understands all club guidelines pertaining to banquet setup, order taking, and sequence of food service.
  • Learns all orders on arrival menu items, preparation methods, ingredients, garnishes, and wine list.
  • Ability to execute all service types (e.g., French, American, buffet. etc.).
  • Understands hygiene, sanitation, and food safety rules.
  • Works in an environment that is fast-paced and high in demand.
  • Complies with appropriate procedures for serving alcohol (e.g., TIPs/CARE).
  • Assures that all state and local laws and club policies and procedures for service of alcoholic beverages are consistently followed.
  • Speaks to guests and co-workers using clear, appropriate, and professional language that is consistently positive and respectful.
  • Maintains high standard of personal appearance and grooming as outlined by DeBordieu Club including employer-assigned proper uniform and name tag.
  • Completes opening and closing duties and side work.
  • Maintains safe work habits and work environment.
  • Attends pre-shift: and designated staff meetings as well as training sessions.
  • Performs any other reasonable duties as required by management.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities (Server)

  • Performs related banquet set-up tasks to include draping tables, setting silverware, folding napkins, preparing drinks, and table décor e.g., centerpieces, votives, etc.
  • Completes food & beverage preparation duties such as preparing condiments, brewing coffee, and ensuring workstations are stocked.
  • Assists with food and table prep before events begin.
  • Provides immediate attention to all members and guests upon seating them.
  • Takes beverage orders and serves food in specified stations, pours and refills wine, coffee, water, and other beverages (alcoholic/non-alcoholic) throughout the event.
  • Ensures final quality check on food and beverage items prior to serving guests according to pre-established standards.
  • Addresses any member/guest issue promptly and communicates with management.
  • Monitors assigned tables for members’ and guests’ satisfaction, quality and additional service.
  • Assists in closing functions such as removing linen, bussing glasses, dishes, silverware, etc., and re-setting assigned banquet work area(s) for the next function when applicable.
  • Retains complete knowledge of correct use and maintenance of equipment.
  • Maintains constant awareness of safety issues, (i.e. broken glass, frayed electrical cords, leaks, broken locks and suspicious persons).
  • Able to follow directions as well as assigned responsibilities from the management team.
  • Cleans workstation thoroughly and keeps display equipment free of debris during meal service.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities (Bartender)

  • Sets and maintains cleanliness and condition of bar, bar unit(s), tables, and other tools, following all set-up guidelines.
  • Prepares fresh garnishes for drinks.
  • Stocks ice, glassware, and other bar-related supplies.
  • Requisition all necessary supplies according to DeBordieu protocols especially when transporting items from storeroom to bar set-up area as required.
  • Follows all state and local laws for serving alcohol responsibly (e.g., last call times).
  • Prepares drink orders for guests according to specified recipes using measuring systems.
  • Removes soiled wares from bar top and tables and places them in designated areas.
  • Anticipates and communicates replenishment needs promptly, ensuring no shortages throughout scheduled function time.
  • Secures liquors, beers, wines, coolers, cabinets, and storage areas.
  • Completes closing duties to include storing all reusable goods, breaking down goods, cleaning all equipment and areas, returning equipment to proper locations, locking refrigerators, restocking items, turning off lights, locking doors, and completing daily cleaning checklist.

Physical Demands and Work Environment 

  • Required to stand for long periods and walks, climbs stairs, balances, stoops, kneels, crouches, bends, stretches and twists or reaches. 
  • Carries and balances a tray to get food to the designated table.
  • Pushes, pulls or lifts up to 50 pounds. 
  • Continuous repetitive motions. 
  • Works in a hot, humid and noisy environment. 

Education and Experience Requirements

  • High School diploma or GED required. 
  • Minimum of one year work experience in banquet or restaurant establishment.
  • Country Club or Golf Club experience is a plus but not required.

Licenses and Special Requirements 

  • Must be at least 18 to serve or 21 to tend the bar.
  • Alcoholic beverage certification is a plus.
  • Food safety certification is a plus.
  • CPR/AED and/or First Aid Certification a plus.

On-Call (Fridays and Saturdays)

Starting at $14/hour for Banquet Server or $20 for Banquet Bartender.
