Background:

Take Control Initiative (TCI) works to remove barriers and increase access to birth control in Tulsa County. We work collaboratively with over 200 community partners, 22+ health center sites, and several state and national organizations. TCI operates at the intersection of health and education with the underlying belief that individuals will make the best decisions for themselves when equipped with information and resources.  

Our team consists of Education/Outreach, Clinical Services, and Data/Policy departments. We utilize collective impact and grassroots organizing principles while recognizing transformational impact requires action at individual, relational, and system levels. Position Description:

The Education and Outreach Coordinator, reports to the Learning and Engagement Manager and delivers TCI educational curriculum, resources, and outreach activities. The Education and Outreach Coordinator facilitates quality curriculum and resources to community groups in English and Spanish, providing direct education sessions on contraceptive information, access, and more. This position acts as a bridge builder between the community and TCI partner health centers and consistently and actively acquires knowledge on available services and relevant reproductive health information to share with community members and patients. 



Essential Duties & Responsibilities:

  • Deliver mission-focused educational content in professional settings – facilitating either virtually or in-person, depending on the current public health context.
  • Provide community education and services via the TCI Helpline, collaborating with the TCI Education & Outreach (E&O) and Operations teams to help TCI Helpline clients navigate transportation and questions related to accessing clinical services.
  • Support the department’s Latinx Initiatives within the community.
  • Collaborate with TCI E&O team to build relationships and maintain partnerships with a diverse network of organizations and entities.
  • Collaborate with the TCI E&O team to disseminate information and education at health fairs and other community events.
  • Consistently participate in relevant community groups, professional development opportunities and coalitions to increase awareness of TCI and learn best practices around public health and education.
  • Utilize and refine evidence-informed curricula including medically accurate content, learning objectives, necessary notes, etc.
  • Cultivate and articulate TCI messaging that is medically accurate, culturally inclusive, clear and compelling.
  • Collaborate with the TCI Digital and Creative Coordinator to support them in sharing relevant information and resources via social media.
  • Collaborate with the TCI+ Clinical Services team to support them in relaying community feedback to relevant TCI partner health centers. 
  • Provide model lessons and share facilitation best practices, resources and support to other TCI facilitators, peer health educators and volunteers.  


Requirements

REQUIREMENTS & QUALIFICATIONS

Education & Experience:

  • Bachelor’s degree or equivalent work experience required.
  • Spanish language verbal and written communication required.
  • 1+ year work experience (required); preferably in an educational setting. 
  • Experience facilitating to diverse age groups.
  • Knowledge of content and pedagogy related to sexual and reproductive health education.
  • Experience collaborating on initiatives and projects with a team.
  • Experience managing projects and coordinating events. 
  • Experience working in a community collaborative effort.



Desired Strengths and Abilities:

  • Possess excellent presentation/public speaking skills and effective written communication skills.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite and Google Drive. 
  • Demonstrate excellent time management/organizational skills and a high degree of competence, integrity, and discernment.
  • Demonstrate ability to negotiate and build strategic partnerships.
  • Dynamic and engaging facilitator who establishes rapport quickly with all levels of staff.

Hours and Location:

  • TCI has an established office based in Tulsa, Oklahoma. 
  • A typical work week is Monday - Friday from 9:00am - 5:00pm. 
  • The work week will occasionally vary and may include night and weekend work and moderate travel nationally and/or overnight on occasion.


Salary

  • $45,000.00 - $50,000.00 per year anticipated salary.



Physical Requirements:

  • This position continually requires the ability to talk and hear both in-person and over the phone, visual acuity; ability to operate equipment, read, and use a keyboard.
  • This position requires sitting/standing in front of a computer screen for extended periods of time.
  • Ability to lift at least 25 lbs.
  • Ability to travel locally within the Tulsa area and multiple locations within the program locations in Oklahoma.
  • Valid driver’s license and proof of insurance required.
