Description

We seek an individual to join a highly motivated team in selflessly advancing The Association of Former Students’ noble mission by performing by providing support to the Communications team to help ensure consistency of The Association of Former Students’ brand and messaging.

DUTIES

Assists with operations of the Communications Team:

  • Researches and compiles information for Texas Aggie magazine, AggieNews newsletter, social media, AggieNetwork.com and other publications.
  • Updates and maintains archives and databases related to the publications.
  • Assists in proofreading content for Association publications.
  • Assists with generating ideas and creating content for social media accounts.
  • If student has sufficient writing, reporting, photography, and/or multimedia production skills, assists in story development and production.
  • Provides basic administrative support and customer service.

Participates in and provides input on various Association-wide activities:

  • Actively contributes toward efforts to achieve our culture, engagement, and fundraising goals.
  • Provides on-site event support for Board and Leadership Council meetings.
  • Participates on internal event teams and task committees.
  • Participates in Association events, including but not limited to Aggie Muster, Aggie Ring Day, Reunions, Distinguished Alumni Gala, Pass It Back Day, All-Aggie Grad Party, and All-Aggie Hullabaloo, as needed.

Serves as an ambassador for The Association:

  • Meets our Team Expectations.
  • Supports The Association’s marketing, communications, and branding initiatives.
  • Fosters relationships with students, former students, parents, faculty, staff, and friends of Texas A&M.

Requirements

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS & ABILITIES

Required: Excellent writing and editing skills. Ability to use standard office equipment and software. Familiarity with the Microsoft Office suite, including Outlook, Word, and Excel. 

Preferred: Photography skills. Strong preference for students who will remain in College Station during the summer.


OTHER REQUIREMENTS

Strong commitment to the mission and vision of The Association of Former Students, with the ability and desire to advocate for the organization and Texas A&M University. Professional attire and behavior. Texas driver’s license and a good driving record.

  

EXPERIENCE

Preferred: Experience in the use of social media channels (such as Facebook, Twitter, Instagram, and Snapchat) as marketing tools. Experience with Canva and Sprout Social.


EDUCATION

Required: Current student at Texas A&M University.
