The Vice President of Marketing and Communications for Downtown Dallas, Inc. will spearhead 

all aspects of marketing, branding, and communication strategies to elevate the profile and 

impact of our organization within the community.


This role requires a visionary leader with a deep understanding of the Dallas market, a passion 

for community development, and a track record of driving results in non-profit or public sector 

settings.


This role is crucial in advancing our mission to enhance the vitality and sustainability 

of our community. You will lead all marketing, branding, and communication efforts, ensuring 

alignment with our organizational goals and values. The successful candidate will have a 

strategic mindset, excellent communication skills, and a passion for community development.


Key Responsibilities:


Strategic Planning: Develop and implement comprehensive marketing and communication 

strategies aligned with Downtown Dallas, Inc.’s mission, goals, and values. Conduct market 

research and analysis to identify opportunities for growth and innovation. This includes 

identifying target audiences, defining key messages, and selecting appropriate channels for 

outreach.


Brand Management: Oversee the development and maintenance of Downtown Dallas, Inc.’s 

brand identity, ensuring consistency across all channels and materials. Lead efforts to enhance 

brand awareness and recognition among key stakeholders.


PR and Media Relations: Cultivate relationships with local media outlets, community leaders, 

and other stakeholders to promote Downtown Dallas, Inc.’s initiatives and events and secure 

positive coverage of Downtown Dallas. Serve as the primary point of contact for media inquiries 

and interview requests. Act as a spokesperson for the organization when necessary.


Digital Marketing and Advertising: Lead digital marketing efforts, including website 

management, email newsletters and campaigns, social media management, and online 

advertising. Utilize analytics and metrics to track performance and optimize digital strategies. 

Monitor analytics to track the effectiveness of digital initiatives and make data-driven decisions.


Content Creation: Oversee the creation of compelling content for various platforms, including 

website articles, press releases, and social media updates. Ensure content is engaging, 

informative, and aligned with Downtown Dallas, Inc.’s messaging and goals. Ensure content is

tailored to different audiences and reflects Downtown Dallas, Inc.’s values and priorities.


Event Marketing and Promotion: Collaborate with internal teams and external partners to 

promote events, and initiatives sponsored by Downtown Dallas, Inc. Develop marketing plans 

and promotional campaigns to drive attendance and participation.


Internal and External Communication: Facilitate communication and collaboration among 

Downtown Dallas, Inc.’s staff members, board members, and volunteers. Ensure all 

stakeholders are informed and engaged in organizational activities and initiatives. Occasional

script/speech/ghostwriting for leadership and organization. Oversee the creation of various internal 

and external newsletters.


Budget Management: Develop and manage the marketing and communications budget, 

ensuring resources are allocated effectively to achieve strategic objectives. Monitor 

expenditures and provide regular financial reports.


Performance Monitoring and Reporting: Establish key performance indicators (KPIs) for 

marketing and communication efforts and regularly track progress towards goals. Prepare and 

present comprehensive reports to senior leadership, highlighting successes, challenges, and 

opportunities for improvement

Requirements

Qualifications:


• Bachelor’s degree in marketing, Communications, Public Relations, or a related field. Master's degree preferred.

• Minimum of 7-10 years of experience in marketing and communications leadership roles, with a proven track record of success in non-profit or public sector organizations.

• Deep knowledge of the Dallas market and community dynamics, with a network of contacts in local government, business, and civic organizations.

• Excellent strategic thinking and problem-solving skills, with the ability to develop and execute. innovative marketing strategies.

• Strong leadership and team management skills, with experience leading and motivating cross-functional teams.

• Outstanding written and verbal communication skills, focusing on clarity, persuasiveness, and attention to detail.

• Proficiency in digital marketing tools and platforms, including website management, email marketing, social media, and analytics.

• Demonstrated ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously and meet deadlines in a fast-paced environment.
