Job Summary

Greets and serves customers promptly and courteously. Prepares and serves hot and cold beverages, such as coffee, espresso drinks, blended coffees, smoothies, smoothie bowls, teas and food products. Stocks and replenishes Cafe retail area and maintains sanitation standards.  

Supervisory Responsibilities



  • Provides customers with product details, such as coffee blend or preparation descriptions.
  • Receives and process customer payments.
  • Cleans and sanitizes work areas, utensils, and equipment.
  • Cleans service and seating areas.
  • Checks temperatures of freezers, refrigerators, or heating equipment to ensure proper functioning.
  • Describes menu items to customers and suggests products that might appeal to them.
  • Stocks supplies and retail products.
  • Prepares and serves prepared foods such as sundaes and avocado mousse
  • Stocks customer service stations with paper products and beverage preparation items.
  • Stores, wraps, labels, and dates food items for sale in accordance with sanitation standards.
  • Creates signs to advertise store products or events.
  • Demonstrates the use of retail equipment such as espresso and wheatgrass machines.
  • Sets up and restock product coolers.
  • Slices fruits and vegetables for garnishes 
  • Demonstrates proper knife handling skills and techniques
  • Demonstrates attention to detail and accuracy when creating drinks based on company recipes and measurements. 
  • Maintains standard operating procedures in accordance with company policy, guidelines and outside licensed and certification authorities.
  • Performs other duties as assigned.

Working Conditions

Works in a non-smoking, normal store environment where there is not physical discomfort due to temperature, dust, noise, etc.

Education and Experience (E = Essential D = Desired)

  • High school education or equivalent
  • 1-2 years’ experience in food service industry; previous Barista experience desirable 
  • Excellent customer service skills
  • Preferred Level 1 or higher Serve Safe Certification
