Product Development Manager
Description

Summary: Reporting to the CEO, the Product Development Manager’s primary responsibility is to manage resources and processes required for new product development projects with speed to market. This position coordinates with internal stakeholders, including marketing, sales, engineering, and manufacturing, to ensure the new products meet development targets and support the organization's financial goals.

Requirements
  • Lead product development, strategy, and redesign from concept through development and manufacturing to market launch.
  • Lead a cross-functional team to create product road maps.
  • Lead in an approval process for new product development projects with management to establish parameters and overall objectives.
  • Execute Product Briefs for all new products and line extensions as it relates to pricing, return on investment for launches, costing, product positioning statements/key selling points, features that matter, competitive information, and timelines.
  • Identify market needs through competitive and category analysis relative to “gaps.”
  • Work with Brand Ambassador, Sales Reps and Customers to gather market information and seek feedback on new product concepts and prototypes.
  • Add and update Product Pipelines for both Norix and Tonik brands.
  • Monitor of the latest industry trends and technologies.
  • Travel as necessary to evaluate new manufacturing processes and equipment. Visit machine developers, factories and tradeshows, both domestically and internationally, to review machines, tools and new products.
  • Report project progress to all stakeholders.
  • Collaborate with marketing team to translate new products into sales support material encompassing sales brochures and other marketing material collateral.
  • Explore opportunities with outside vendors to enhance and optimize products.
  • Manage outside design consultants.
  • Perform other related duties as assigned


Required Skills/Abilities:

  • Strong understanding of product development processes
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills, with ability to communicate up, down, and across the organization.
  • Ability to adjust to shifting priorities, demands, and timelines promptly and efficiently.
  • Ability to handle multiple projects and deadlines simultaneously.
  • Proficient with Microsoft Outlook, Word, & Excel
  • ERP system. NetSuite is preferred.
  • 3D CAD Experience, SolidWorks preferred.



  • Education/Experience:
  • 10 years or more of contract furniture industry experience, leading product development efforts in a manufacturing environment.
  • Minimum Bachelor’s degree in mechanical engineering, marketing, or design field.
