Assistant Director of Admissions
Description

This position reports to the Dean of Admissions assisting with all aspects of the admissions and recruitment process. In addition, the assistant director of admissions is responsible for the internal department management of all admissions recruitment.


Key Responsibilities:

  • Reflect and promote the mission and vision of the university.
  • Supervise and provide ongoing training and assessment for admissions counselor(s).
  • Manage the professional admissions counseling staff, student workers and volunteer personnel.
  • Develop and maintain relationships with high school guidance counselors, community college transfer centers, youth pastors and other key influencers.
  • Meet enrollment goals for assigned target recruitment area
  • Assist in the research of successful target markets and design recruitment travel taking advantage of visits to key feeder schools/universities, churches, college fairs, and conferences.
  • Counsel applicants through the admission process, including the financial aid awarding process, academic registration and financial registration.
  • Maintain scheduled contact via telephone, email and social media with prospect and applicant roster. 
  • Assist in the development and maintenance of the admissions office’s recruitment and marketing plan with the purpose of promoting the University's visibility and general recruitment efforts in collaboration with the Director of Education Marketing.
  • Assist in the development, maintenance and execution of the department’s communication plan to prospective and admitted students.
  • Other duties as assigned


Requirements

Minimum Requirements:

  • Bachelor’s degree required
  • Three to five years of experience in admissions/enrollment
  • Ability to achieve application and enrollment goals
  • Strong interpersonal skills with the ability to communicate effectively (oral and written)
  • Strong customer service and phone etiquette; telecommunications experience preferred
  • Computer technology skills required
  • Possess the ability to work effectively without close supervision
  • Possess excellent communication and organizational skills
  • Must be able to work effectively without close supervision
  • Must be willing to work flexible hours, including some nights and weekends

Preferred Requirements:

  • Master degree in Higher Education or equivalent
  • Experience with traditional and non-traditional enrollment
  • Previous supervisory experience in Admissions
