What you will be doing

The Student Financials and Visa Specialist, (SFVS) is responsible for Visa packet preparation and corresponding outreach to students. This position will assist with keeping the website up to date and will also assist with general tickets coming to the areas under Student Financial Services. The person in this position also will provide key assistance with billing, collections, scholarships, financial aid, and transcripts as needed and be present in the API physical of?ce on a daily basis.

How you will get the job done

Primary responsibilities include:

  • Support students applying for Visas by timely preparing documents needed for the Visa process
  • Perform phone, email and text outreach to students regarding Visa process and application.
  • Provide customer support for phone calls, emails and tickets coming into the Student Financial Services queues.
  • Assist with adding new charges and/or deduction to ensure ?nancial aid information is updated and posted to student accounts
  • Communicate with students regarding the financial aid deferral process
  • Maintain and update student accounts, including name and address changes, mergers, or mailing attentions
  • Review Consulate and other relevant websites to ensure that the API website has up to date information.
  • Maintain the highest standards of customer service when interacting with students, parents, and/or Universities
  • Assist with correspondence for past-due accounts and collections, identify delinquent accounts by reviewing reports, and communicate with students to request and arrange payments
  • Create and present presentations on Visa procedures
  • Guide students through Visa application process and review application materials for students via, phone calls, emails, tickets and webinars
  • Research student account discrepancies as needed
  • Collaborate with internal Programs/Unit Managers and Unit colleagues on financial services and visa issues and/or questions
  • Guide students and/or parents through the ?nancial aid transfer process and send enrollment veri?cations and consortium agreements to schools, upon request
  • Assist in preparing batch visa materials
  • Assist with and perform other duties and projects as assigned

WHAT WE ARE LOOKING FOR

What experience you should have

  • Pro?cient in Microsoft Of?ce Suite
  • Ability to communicate clearly and professionally with students, parents, university partners and internal teams
  • Strong interpersonal skills with the ability to work effectively and cooperatively across multiple departments
  • High degree of accuracy and attention to detail
  • Excellent time management skills, organizational skills and ability to multi-task, while still completing work in timely and accurate manner
  • Pro?cient data entry skills to include numerical and informational data
  • Professional demeanor and ability to exercise strict con?dentiality
  • Ability to work both collaboratively within a team environment and independently, with minimal supervision

KEY EDUCATION AND CERTIFICATIONS

  • Associates degree or higher in an applicable degree required
  • 2+ years of experience in a relatable position
  • Working knowledge of study abroad or visa applications is helpful
