Position Summary: 

Ushers are truly Ambassadors of Pablo Center and are charged with providing warm, energetic, and genuine guidance to all guests of Pablo Center. Ushers will act as hosts for each event, greeting and guiding patrons to the Box Office, bars, restrooms, galleries and their seats. An usher will strive to provide accurate information to patrons by being aware of all of the Center’s offerings. The ideal candidate will display a positive, welcoming attitude, strong work ethic, punctuality, and a desire to learn. This position reports to the Front of House Managers.


This part time position averages 5-20 hours per week annually, though based on the events schedule, some weeks will have more activity and some weeks will have minimal to no activity. Schedule will flex between daytime, evening and weekend hours depending on the events schedule, with most hours on nights and weekends.


This position is not guaranteed to see performances occurring at Pablo Center. Ushers will be expected to be available and accessible for the duration of the performance for any number of tasks as assigned by the FOH Manager, or as requested by patrons. Ushers may be stationed in or near the theater for the duration of the performance. Starting wage is $12 per hour. Required to work collaboratively for extended period of time in close proximity, distances under 5’ (five feet) with Artists, Patrons, Students, Community Members, Board Members, and Pablo Center Staff.

Requirements

Principal Duties and Responsibilities:

· Greets, approaches, and maintains a positive, approachable demeanor for guests. 

· Familiarity with all events occurring to guide patrons properly. 

· Ensures lobby and theatres are properly set up for patrons. 

· Pre-show theater and building cleanliness/supplies checks - notifies FOH Manager of issues. 

· Scans tickets and admits patrons into events. 

· Distributes programs. 

· Assists all patrons in finding their seats, paying appropriate attention and time to patrons with disabilities. 

· Monitor's patron activity and enforces policies following procedure. 

· Encourages and welcomes suggestions and feedback. Reports feedback from patrons to the Front of House Managers. 

· Develops rapport with patrons of Pablo Center at the Confluence. 

· All other duties as assigned. 

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities: 

Required

· Ability to work non-traditional hours primarily including nights and weekends. 

· Proven track record of handling guest issues proactively and professionally to produce positive outcomes. 

· Intuitive problem-solving skills and the ability to make quick and correct decisions to maintain a high-class patron experience. 

· Outstanding verbal communication skills. 

· Ability to thrive working in a team environment. 

· Physically able to stand and walk for long periods of time. Physically able to go up and down stairs repeatedly. 

· Comfortable working in low light conditions. 

· Ability to lift heavy boxes or other objects up to 40 lbs. 

Preferred Skills

· Customer service experience with references. 

· Knowledgeable about Pablo Center specifically and Downtown Eau Claire in general. 

· Experience ushering is preferred.
