GA positions require a two year commitment to the College. GA’s cannot complete the MBA or MACE, or MACL programs in less than two calendar years.


  • You must first apply and be accepted into the graduate program in order to be selected for a Graduate Assistant position.
  • You must receive a GA position before being enrolled in any graduate courses; once you have been enrolled in any graduate courses you are no longer eligible to receive a GA position.
  • Lastly, individuals must remain in good-standing in the graduate program in order to continue in the GA position.


Position Summary

The Study Abroad Graduate Assistant is responsible for assisting in all aspects of study abroad programming and administration, including but not limited to promoting programs to students, advising students on study abroad options, recruiting, scheduling, planning and conducting pre-departure orientation meetings, making travel arrangements and reservations, and providing general administrative duties. The graduate assistant is expected to perform his/her duties in a professional and timely manner, including keeping a regular schedule of office hours.

Essential Functions

  • Provide direct support to the Director of Study Abroad 
  • Promote programs and advise students
  • Assist in all aspects of the semester and summer Florence program planning and administration
  • Update and prepare information material for the various study abroad programs 
  • Conduct pre-departure orientation meetings
  • Update and administer end-of-program surveys
  • Liaise with the relevant college offices in relation to the different phases of the study abroad programs
  • Liaise with partners and providers overseas
  • Be a visible, fully integrated member of the College community
  • Represent Benedictine College and the program in a professional manner

Education

  • Bachelor's Degree required
  • Must be accepted into a Benedictine College graduate program

Experience / Skills

  • Must have studied abroad or lived abroad for some time
  • Familiarity with Italy and some knowledge of Italian language are a plus
  • High level of personal integrity
  • Creativity, high energy, and outstanding work ethic
  • Proficient in Word, Excel, and PowerPoint
  • Experience with use of social media
  • Outstanding skills in oral and written communication
  • Excellent organizational ability 

Compensation

  • Full tuition waiver (books and fees not included) with completion and approval of Tuition Benefit Form each semester
