Job Description Summary:


Jacobsen|Daniels is seeking a Senior Construction Manager with demonstrated aviation construction experience to support a variety of projects at the Atlanta Hartsfield–Jackson International Airport. Candidates should be self-motivated critical thinkers and have the capacity to work within a fast-paced environment. Successful candidates will be capable of working individually and in team environments. Strong oral communication skills, including the capability to understand and follow oral and written communication, are also required.


The Senior Construction Manager has primary responsibility for the overall project performance including costs, schedule, quality, and project status. This position involves liaison with  clients, design teams, general contractors, airport management, airport officials , and key stakeholders. Also, the Senior Construction Manager  is responsible for managing the technical and financial aspects of the contract.

Responsibilities:

The Senior Construction Manager will report to the Director – Program & Construction Management and will share and support the following responsibilities:

  • Develop and maintain excellent relationships with the owner, architect, consultants, subcontractors, and other key stakeholders.
  • Provide overall accountability for the planning, design, permitting, construction, financial controls and closeout/turnover of construction programs/projects on behalf of our clients.
  • Support the delivery of client programs/projects on time, within budget, and to a mutually agreed-upon level of quality through the evaluation and recommendation of project delivery methods and strategies.
  • Supports, and may lead, program/project delivery from development of solicitation documents (request for qualifications/proposals), through programming/planning, design, construction and project closeout.
  • Ensure accountability of the entire project team and their specific roles under the chosen project delivery method by proactively identifying issues and facilitating positive resolutions.
  • Establish and ensure adherence by the entire project team to program/project governance and document controls processes. 
  • Read, understand, and ensure effective application of complex construction documents , including but not limited to, agreements/contracts, work letters, program/project charters, surveys,  drawings, and specifications.
  • Interface directly with clients to define program/project requirements, prepares scopes of work, identify project delivery methods and resources, program/project budgets, work plan schedules and milestones, quality control processes, and risk identification and mitigation.
  • Track progress of project against goals, objectives, approved budgets, and approved timelines. Report status and variances and create action plans to address deficiencies.
  • Implement change management strategies to assess change requests relative to project scope, budget schedule, quality and risk. Make recommendations, secure client approvals and issue change orders. Liaise with governing authorities and regulatory agencies.
  • Understand and enforce contractual responsibilities, contract documents, and assist with dispute resolution.
  • Travel as  required as assignments may warrant, up to 50%.

Qualifications:

  • Must possess demonstrated leadership ability in managing staff and project efforts and embody a progressive and innovative attitude toward construction technologies, and a thorough understanding of all project systems. 
  • Strong abilities to facilitate productive meetings between stakeholders are highly desirable.
  • Additional preferred qualities and skills include superior organizational ability and strong process orientation, the ability to train and mentor others, and effective people skills.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite, MS Project, SharePoint, AutoCAD, Primavera P6, Adobe Acrobat, Bluebeam, Procore, etc.
  • In compliance with federal law, all persons hired will be required to verify identity and eligibility to work in the United States and to complete the required employment eligibility verification form upon hire.

  • Employment with Jacobsen|Daniels is contingent upon passing a substance abuse test and the ability to pass a TSA and Homeland Security background check for an airport SIDA badge.


Education and Experience:

Must possess a  bachelor's degree in Project Management, Architecture, Engineering, Construction Management, or equivalent real-world experience commensurate with such a position. A minimum of ten (10) years of proven experience as a Senior Construction Project Manager, or equivalent, on commercial construction projects, preferably aviation, valued at $50 million or more. 5 or more years of progressive project responsibility desired.


Licensing/Certifications:

  • Valid Driver’s License
  • Ability to obtain Airport Security Badging Credentials

  • Software/Office Equipment – proficient in computer software applications utilized to administer terms of the contract through project controls (e.g., MS Project, SharePoint, Microsoft Office Suite, AutoCAD, etc.)
  • Adapts to changes in the work environment, manages competing demands, and can deal with frequent change, delays, or unexpected events.
  • Planning/organizing – prioritizes and plans work activities, uses time efficiently, and develops realistic action plans.
  • Quality control— demonstrates accuracy and thoroughness and monitors own work to ensure quality.


Physical Demands:

While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to stand, sit for long periods, bend, use hands to manipulate (type), talk and hear; walk; sit, and lift or move no more than ten (10) pounds. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and the ability to adjust focus.


Mental Demands:

While performing the duties of this position, employees are regularly required to use written and oral communication skills; read and interpret data, information, and documents; analyze and solve problems, use math, and mathematical reasoning; observe and interpret situations; learn and apply new information or new skills; work under deadlines with occasional interruptions, and interact with staff and other organizations.


Working Conditions:

Primarily working at a construction site out of a field office or construction trailer. May be required to travel occasionally as needed to satisfy company and client needs.
