Maintenance Technician Level II
Description

Basic Function: Our Maintenance Technician will be responsible for maintaining all production equipment and facility maintenance. This position also installs, maintains, and repairs machinery, equipment, physical structures, and pipe and electrical systems in an industrial establishment by performing the following duties.  

Responsibilities and Duties:

  1. Performs electrical installations, maintenance, and repairs.
  2. Ensures all electrical work adheres to relevant codes, standards, and regulations.
  3. Installs, programs, or repairs automated machinery and equipment such as robots or programmable controllers.
  4. Diagnoses malfunctioning apparatus such as transformers, motors, and lighting fixtures and replaces damaged or broken wires and cables.
  5. Lays out, assembles, installs, and maintains pipe systems and related hydraulic and pneumatic equipment, and repairs and replaces gauges, valves, pressure regulators and related equipment.
  6. Dismantles defective machines and equipment and installs new or repaired parts.
  7. Cleans and lubricates shafts, bearings, gears, and other parts of machinery.
  8. Repairs and maintains physical structure of buildings.
  9. Visually inspects, tests, and repairs company vehicles.
  10. Assists & implements a preventative maintenance program.
  11. Does preshift daily inspection of all hoist and air compressors completing ISO and EHS documents to record inspections.
  12. Assists co-workers with repairs.
  13. Replaces defective light bulbs in the facility and machines.
  14. Supports the Hartzell Culture initiatives and displays and portrays the Hartzell Values.
  15. Supports the company’s lean initiatives and assists in Lean projects as required.
  16. Follows all safety practices and rules. Maintains clean and safe working environment in line with company policies.
  17. Supports other departments or completes other duties as necessary. 
  18. Expected to perform repairs as needed on steam heating equipment.


Requirements
  • Minimum of 2 years vocational training in the maintenance fields and 5 years on-the-job experience required.
  • Formal electrical training and relevant experience required.
  • Experience in programming PLCs, troubleshooting, and analyzing production machines and systems is a requirement.
  • Ability to mechanically disassemble and assemble machines and components, repair fabrication, and read blueprints and schematics is a plus
  • Excellent math skills.
  • Previous application of lean manufacturing and structured problem solving tools is a plus. 
  • Good verbal and written communication skills.
  • Frequently (40 - 70%) lifts material weighing 25 - 60 lbs. Occasionally (15 - 40%) lifts material weighing over 60 lbs. Lifting is generally from floor level to shoulder level.
  • Must be capable of close, distant, and color vision and have good depth perception.
  • Must reach, stoop, kneel, crouch and crawl.
  • Must be reliable and willing to work overtime when required.
