Role

The Shipping Assistant Team Leader is responsible for providing support to the shipping team leader and undertaking the role of the team leader in their absence. The assistant team leader will lead the shipping team to achieve maximum efficiency and productivity and to meet operational and team goals. The assistant team leader role expedites equipment and hardware for sales shipments, manages inquiries from customers, inside sales and sales representatives, and routes customer freight. This position reports to the Shipping Team Leader and is located in Franklin, Pennsylvania.


Duties and Responsibilities


Assist Shipping Team Leader on a daily basis and maintain the following responsibilities in their absence:

  • Direct, manage, and supervise the work of shipping personnel to ensure that the proper procedures and standards are being followed in the staging and packaging of equipment;
  • Follow dispatch lists and Shipping Schedule in assigned areas closely and work hand-in-hand with production, purchasing, scheduling, sales, and customers to attain on-time deliveries with the most cost effective shipping methods;
  • Evaluate equipment and employee performance for quality and safety issues;
  • Use equipment bill of material and SAP software to collect parts and equipment, confirming quantities of assemblies and sub-assemblies for customer shipments;
  • Daily review of on-hand balances of manufactured and purchased components in shipping area;
  • Order items and expedite as required;
  • Give freight estimates and provide shipment information to sales when requested;
  • Maintain a clean and safe work environment through a continued program of daily sweeping and general cleaning;
  • Ensures that the team’s goals are aligned with and representative of the overall company’s directive, including enforcement of company policies;
  • Sustain a continuous improvement environment and support the IPEG Pride suggestion and MYCI programs;
  • Other duties as assigned.
Requirements
  • Associate or bachelor’s degree in Business Administration (or related field) and/or five (5)+ years of direct work experience without formal education;
  • Position typically expects up to three (3) years of direct/relevant experience based on scope of position with one (1) year of leadership responsibility;
  • Basic math skills;
  • Ability to quickly assess and solve problems daily;
  • Primary  job functions require extensive independent judgment;
  • Demonstrate flexibility when confronted with change;
  • Ability to work with management in analyzing shipping efficiency;
  • Must have a positive attitude and foster a continuous improvement environment;
  • Must be able to effectively communicate with all levels of the organization;
  • Mission focused with a sense of urgency when required;
  • Maintain composure in a fast-paced, stressful environment;
  • Ability to demonstrate proficiency with PCs.
