About the Position

Atlas School is looking for a Financial Aid Specialist. In this role, you would assist students and their families in exploring all available resources to help pay for the student's education, implementing, awarding, and processing funding. You would also participate in the recruitment and retention of students at Atlas School.


Atlas School is not an accredited school and does not participate in state or federal financial aid programs (Title IV funding). Licenses by O.P.B.V.S.



  

Key Responsibilities

  • Receive, evaluate, and verify student data to award federal, state, and institutional aid. 
  • Recommend, interpret, and update policies ensuring compliance with Federal, State, and local laws and contractual regulations.
  • Coordinate financial aid operations with departments, including admissions and student records.
  • Prepare a variety of financial aid program-related reports and correspondence. Maintain alignment of internal documentation and processes with federal and state regulations.
  • Oversee compliance matters in conjunction with the school's Compliance team. Conduct Entrance and Exit loan counseling.
  • Prepare refund calculations.
  • Review student adherence to eligibility requirements.
  • Work with Workforce Development, Vocational Rehabilitation, and Tribal agencies.
  • Other duties as assigned.
Requirements

Required Qualifications

  • Associate degree or higher in a related field.
  • 4+ years' experience in financial aid.
  • Strong listening, verbal, and written communication skills.
  • Ability to identify issues, investigate possible reasons/solutions, evaluate possible outcomes, and develop the most efficient and effective action plan for each situation.
  • Adhering to FERPA, incorporating confidentiality of information into every aspect of the job.
  • Sensitivity to the emotional nature of discussions related to finances.
  • Able to balance requirements of federal, state, and institutional programs with concepts of customer service.
  • Must display a consistent attitude of customer service.
  • Must be in and maintain good standing on personal Federal Student Loans.



Preferred Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in a related field.
  • Experience working with Veteran Education Benefits.
  • Exceptional time management skills, with an interest in efficiency and optimization.
  • Advanced critical thinking skills.


 

Salary

  • $45,000.00 to $55,000.00 anticipated starting salary



Hours and Location

  • This is an office-based position in Tulsa, Oklahoma.
  • A typical work week is Monday - Friday from 8:00 a.m. – 5:00 p.m. with some nights and weekend work required.
  • The work week will occasionally vary with advance notice depending on scheduled programming and other events.
