ZD operates Next District 6 in partnership with Greeley Evans 6, which is, a GED Plus program designed to reengage young adults who have not found success in traditional educational systems.  We partner WITH youth and communities in pursuit of equitable opportunities for all. Our self-paced, individualized program allows students aged 16-21 to complete GED requirements while receiving other wrap-around services including: social-emotional support, college coursework, and workforce development. 


Program Instructors walk alongside students providing personalized and/or small group instructional support and personal development.  

 

The ideal candidate has a background in instructional practices, creation of personalized learning/development pathways, and a desire to connect students with resources that will allow them to thrive. A successful candidate in this role has the intrinsic desire to seek out the “why” behind human behaviors and empower students to seek out solutions to challenges and barriers they face.  This is done through a focus on:

RESPONSIBILITIES


Student Engagement & Instruction

  • Build and implement personalized learning plans to meet abilities of students and address gaps in learning in math, science, social studies and language arts 
  • Foster student engagement through small group lessons and one on one sessions using a student-centered approach
  • Responds to the social-emotional needs of the “whole” student to support effective learning 

Case Management / Navigation

  • Monitors the progress of students and provides regular feedback to the student and ZD team regarding student growth 
  • Conduct proactive outreach to all students particularly with students facing engagement challenges
  • Partners WITH students in defining personalized goals including GED completion and future educational / career goals.
  • Implements a collaborative approach to meet the needs of the “whole” student

Requirements

REQUIRED EXPERIENCE / QUALIFICATIONS

  • Experience in a field like education, career navigation, counseling, or social work
  • Comfort working with high school students or young adults from diverse backgrounds as well as their families and support networks as it relates to education 
  • Ability to change gears, multi-task and work collaboratively with internal staff and students 
  • An ability to work independently and maintain organization systems that supports goal attainment
  • Strong time management and conflict resolution skills  
  • Demonstrate clear and appropriate boundaries with youth 
  • Dependable transportation 
  • Intermediate computer skills in the Microsoft Office Suite and Google Suite 

DESIRED EXPERIENCE / QUALIFICATIONS

  • Bilingual / biliterate in Spanish
  • Implementation of effective instructional and classroom management strategies 
  • Experience with social work / case management type activities including tracking progress and resource or career navigation 
  • Knowledge of curriculum and instruction, blended learning and proficiency in math or English Language Arts
  • Understanding of Individual Education Plans (IEP) and 504s 

Familiarity with Greeley area: school district, community college and career technical education systems and the transitioning of students from secondary to post-secondary 


WORK SCHEDULE – This position is in Greeley, Colorado and is a full-time position with demanding goals, which sometimes requires longer hours and flexible scheduling.  The school year mainly follows the partner school districts’ calendars, with any changes to ensure the school year encompasses enough contact days for full-time student status. Hours are Monday through Thursday from 7:30-5:30.


COMPENSATION & BENEFITS - This is a non-exempt position with an hourly range of $19.50 - $23.50 commensurate with qualifications, knowledge and relevant experience.  Employees are eligible for company 401K plan with Employer Contribution Match, Medical, Dental & Vision Coverage, Paid Time Off (Sick Time, Holidays, Flexible Vacation). This position is not PERA eligible.
